Hang tough fellow canuck, I know it's all overwhelming when it hits you, but you will learn to cope trust me, just try different things to amuse your mind. I myself found that just a better understanding of tinnitus and it's inner working helped settle me down.
Good luck and there is much useful info here at this site.

funny, sleep hasn't been an issue with me despite the loudness at this time...I still use my crickets sounds from time to time, I can tell you it will ease and hopefully allow you to get a better nights sleep, I'm into this about a year and a half now and I'm still here, took me about 3 months to get a real grip on the noise and it's annoyance.

Dizzy and light headed might be another issue. (vertigo) I also was dizzy and light headed for last 2 years but it had nothing to do with my noise, I did have a heart attack on april 12th I got dizzy and passed out cold, but it was a heart issue as opposed to a tinnitus issue, I had . a blocked artery. Trust me you will learn to adjust we all do and we find our own way to cope,
