I was not in real pain but was very croggy after the surgery. I took more than 0.5 year to look with 20/20 again. After that I did my other eye. Some people go to work after 2 weeks again but develope cataract or rentina detachment because they put to much pressure on the eye. I took 2 times a half year of work and came back with perfect vision.

If I had not done this I would have T and extreme floaters. T is already hard to deal with so at least I have my vision back to normal. To bad there is no vitrectomy for your ears o_O

How much was the surgery? Expensive? My wife has floaters. Do you know if it's being done in the US?

There were even people from the US over there and from Korea. If you want all-in so room , breakfast etc etc is was 5000 euro (for one eye) .... if you do the surgery and stay and the guestfloor it is 2800 euro. Most people did the 2800euro option. You have less service, but who cares.... If everything is ok you can go home the next day, but they say that for at least a week you cannot fly. Prices may have changed of course.

Had floaters since i was about 11. They're pretty bad but i'm used to it. I come out of habituation occasionally when my health anxiety fixes it's stare on them.

No, I do not believe so. He was, in my opinion, new to YAG laser treatment and only wanted to break up Weiss rings. I had simple floaters like most people - a much smaller target or targets. A Weiss ring is something much larger and more substantial.

Dr. Karickhoff in the U.S is the world pioneer in YAG laser floater treatment. I was going to see him, but read the Daily Mail article and was unfortunately diverted to Mr Qureshi as a more local option.

Mr Qureshi said the Daily Mail article was inaccurate as well. He suggested I go and see Dr Karickhoff which says a lot about Qureshi's ability....

There are many not very thorough practioners in the UK attempting YAG laser treatment with varying degrees of success. Some just playing "pinball" with a patient's floaters...knocking them around, breaking them to smaller pieces and not vaporising them as should be the case, because they are using too low a power setting. It requires more than one treatment in some cases to vaporise most floaters. 100% resolution of all floaters is not always practicable, unless you opt for a vitrectomy.

This is true, but I was 45 at the time - in the correct age bracket for treatment.

The options are a vitrectomy or a trip to the US for a skilled YAG laser specialist who knows what they are doing.

Found this post relating to Dr Karickhoff -

Dr Karickhoff's "Moses Maneuver" technique that moves floaters away from the retina.

Very sad. I didn't know he suffered from floaters as well. I know from my own experience how sucky it is to suffer from both hearing and vision issues (I have severe floaters and myopia in addition to raging tinnitus).

It just goes to show how pathetic the medical community is in dealing with symptoms they don't have a pill for.

My optician trivialised the fact I have floaters when I mentioned it during a routine eye test. But when I told her I see a vortex of them spinning in my lower field of vision every time I turn my head, she shut up.

An ophthalmologist at the local hospital was equally as disinterested.

I wonder how she would deal with tinnitus as well, sitting in her quiet little examination room 5 days a week?

Nick Williams' suicide is an absolute tragedy.

That visual snow is scary...Seriously, how can a person cope with vision like that? I know tinnitus and hyperacusis is bad, but visual snow? Jesus. All these conditions you never hear about, no pun intended.

That is sad. I have T, H and floaters. I usually don't notice my floaters unless it is bright out. Then I see them. I used to think I was seeing my eyelashes in my vision which are naturally kind of long. It wasn't until many years later that I realized it was not my eyelashes. It was more like dust on a camera lens. Before then I never even heard of floaters. And it didn't bother me until I found out what I was seeing was floaters. It is like as soon as I placed a condition on what I was seeing, it became negative and bothered me. Never really bothered me before. It is interesting how the mind can make a condition go from tolerable to the exact opposite without anything changing just by noticing it.

      @preslys I don't know and I don't believe there is a definitive answer.

Possibly down to hypersensitivity of the senses, just as the hearing sense becomes over active in tinnitus, so does vision in making floaters troublesome.

What next? Smell, touch or taste issues?

Honestly never heard of anyone getting any relief from fasting when it comes to floaters.

It doesn't physiologically make much sense to me how those particles that float in the vitreous would go away from fasting.

      Nasty buggers!

Well, I can see my white blood cells! Really creepy...But trobalt does elevate white blood cells, so make it's because of that? Maybe a few more weeks and it'll be gone. Still, not as annoying as severe tinnitus.

Okay, well admittedly this is alternative medicine and would in no way be recommended by a doctor; however, I /have/ seen testimonies from actual people (I mean, there are testimonies for all kinds of stuff so... beware) and water fasting DOES induce something called autophagy, where the body basically uses up all that waste because it's not getting any nutrients. I have seen medical studies where this fact is supported by experiments on mice. Apparently this process starts after about 3-5 days. Not recommending this or anything as it obviously sounds dangerous (although people do it for religious reasons). I personally haven't seen results, just wondering if anybody else has tried.

Welp, on top of everything else I have a floater. I've had it since early childhood and didn't even know it was a floater. And it's not in the center of my vision and I don't see it unless I look out the car window or up at the sky and it's in the far left field of my vision. Huh... Never knew it was a floater.

I just started getting floaters like 2 months ago. Oddly it happened after I read up on it here and thought "huh I wonder what that would be like."

      Thanks, Satan :D

Not too bad though (at least not yet), just three little squiggles I don't notice unless I'm in a brightly lit environment or looking at a blue sky. Not really the visual equivalent of T. The visual equivalent of T would be a searing light you can see with your eyes closed.

seems a lot more likely that it was already there, and your thalamus was doing a bang-up job of filtering out of your conscious awareness until you started 'looking' for it.

I have read numerous reports of people 'getting' tinnitus under similar circumstances. In fact, in my case, I developed the visual problems first, then read that people with such visual problems also often have T, and started mentally 'looking' for it...... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
