quite surprised that eardrum perforated and does not cure itself .. online they say perforations cure themselves in few weeks. I find you very strong spirited person.
just to know (by almightys grace looks you do not feel these) if you dont mind could you tell if you feel pain or muffled hearing (during or after incident)
nature will fix things .. patience works

Perforated eardrum sound extremely scary and I'm quite shocked reading from your post that such a seemingly ordinary surgery to patch up your eardrum has so many risks and low success rate. May I ask how your eardrum perforated?

What do you find that helps your coping to the tinnitus?

Hi- sorry for getting back to you so late.
I know :( isn’t it horrible? Every doctor and ent advices against the surgery.
I perforated my eardrum during an aeroplane landing. I found out I had an infection too, so it was probably the combination of an infection and the air pressure!

The only thing that has helped me is to keep my mind off it by trying to keep myself busy! And always having background noise.

As long as you don't inadvertently hurt your ears again, you ought to be ok.
You will want to avoid taking ototoxic drugs, avoid microsuction or syringing (performed when you need to clean wax out of your ears; a manual tool should be used), and not let your dental hygienist use an ultrasonic scaling tool on you (a manual tool should be used). For more details, see
