    Tinnitus Since:
    10/2013
Hello..Glad to join the group. I developed Tinnitus the day after I got Vertigo in Oct. 2013. I started having anxiety and panic attacks because the noise in my left ear freaked me out, and that I had no control over it. My ENT Dr. said I would have to get used to it and that freaked me out more. I started taking Valium and Xanax to deal with the squealing metal noise in my ear. That helped until I read a long list of Ototoxic drugs on the ATA webpage. Xanax and Valium were actually making it worse. That freaked me out again. I tried the Fisher Wallace CES but it didn't help. After months of searching the web and trying meditation, supplements, and other so-called therapies I got a Tinnitus hearing aid which not only masks the Tinnitus sound but also helps with hearing from hearing loss associated with Tinnitus. It works fairly good but I couldn't sleep with it in my ear. When I removed it at night ,the Tinnitus seemed worse because I wasn't used to it. So after 8 months I finally habituated and I can deal with it without drugs. When my surroundings are quiet I'm aware of it but now I don't freak out. Several Doctors had tried to put me on antidepressants but they all would make my Ringing worse, some herbs do also, and I found out that neck position while sleeping can affect it also. Anyway, I've learned alot since Oct. and will be happy to provide any input.
