If someone's tinnitus is stable and doesn't limit their life whatsoever then honestly what's the problem? Aug 15, 2022 at 7:16 AM

Speaking as someone in this situation - the only correct way to live is thanking god for your luck, supporting those who cannot experience the same thing you do - and never forgetting about T a day in your life.

It’s such a massive disservice to invalidate others when you’ve come out the other end. It’s a miracle, not a guarantee.

I'm in that category of mild/stable and I thank the gods every day. But the problem is, you don't know what happens the next moment. And I don't know if truly stable T exists. I myself get some weird half a sec blasts that may or may not be SBUTT's, almost every day or a few times a week. These up & downs cause a lot of axniety.

Yeah, @Damocles, it's "just a lil' ringing" so we shouldn't "let the tinnitus win". We should be thankful it's "only" tinnitus..

@Marshall Turn on the video of Will Smith dragging a table across the floor from Men In Black on loop, then increase the volume by 10% every minute and say they're paying too much attention to it.

My client told me that he RUPTURED HIS EAR DRUM and his ear WAS BLEEDING after a speaker blew it out at a concert. Tinnitus? Nope.

Yup. One of my friends had a sudden sensorineural loss about 10 years ago (her ear can hear only some low sounds), and she hasn't had tinnitus ever. She can't even comprehend what tinnitus is like and blames me for "overreacting" to the problem...

Silence is overrated. I don't need silence. Just a 50% decrease and no reactivity will be good enough.

I already mentioned I was sensitive to the severity debate, and the question seemed like a reframed version of ‘your tinnitus isn’t that bad unless you permanently worsen to every single noise... Go out and enjoy your life you lucky thing!’

So fed up of reading that shit here. It feels like an echo chamber rather than a support forum.

I think we all can agree that wanting silence becomes a low priority for most people with tinnitus, but more so for people with severe and sophisticated forms of tinnitus. That’s largely to due the fact they’ve experience some of the worse of the worse that tinnitus has to offer, that any positive change be it a volume reduction, a tone or 2 going away, or the removal of reactivity can make all the difference.

Hey, @AnthonyMcDonald! Was your reactivity more pronounced on a specific ear, or was it equally bad over both ears?

@Stacken77 my reactivity usually is evenly pronounced in both ears. It's not like a tone overlapping noise, but rather very easy permanent worsening. Luckily my reactivity has gotten better, but not enough to live normally.
