Ever since I was a kid, whenever I go into a very quiet closet or close my ears very tightly, I would always hear a very high pitch noise. I have always thought of it as "the sound of silence" or the "closet noise".
Starting 5-6 years ago I once in a while heard this high pitch noise (closet noise) in a normal environment. But the symptom never lasted more than half a day. The real problem started last year when I was 58. The noise became permanent. That's when I fpund out about Tinnitus.
