- Cause of Tinnitus:
- Don't know
My tinnitus just started up suddenly, like turning on a switch, screech, there it was. Both ears, very high, very loud. At first, I thought it was my blood pressure or something in my head, or a medication side effect or something. But doctors just said they didn't know, that it's common, blah blah blah. One did finally send me to audiologist. (no hearing loss) then to ENT (couldn't find anything wrong, but here, we can order you this device that costs several thousand dollars that your insurance doesn't cover, and I cannot afford. I'm a lifelong musician - pianist and flutist - and taught classroom music for seven years after my kids were older, but had to stop due to disability (failed back surgery, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome finally diagnosed) . It's not like I've been a rock musician and exposed to constant super loud decibels ....I'm a classical musician....don't turn music up too loud or use earphones much, not many rock concerts. I should also add I have perfect pitch and hyperacusis, like Beethoven, but don't really know if I'm losing my hearing or mind or what. I can't stand it. Stress, which is high anyway (life situations beyond my control) makes it worse; I take Ativan to try to calm it all down. (T and stress) but only helps the T to a small degree. I had no idea there was a forum for this; T is so life changing and for me, career impacting. I get migraines now if sounds are too loud (out in public, loud drums, etc) the sounds literally hurt my ears and I feel like my heads going to explode. The T is getting louder by the year. I feel like I'm going nuts.Interact
