        The lack of sleep could be making it worse, try taking a sleep aide if possible, I know its hard with the spike, but try something natural like melatonin.

        Thanks for your comments. Had 2 teeth extracted 4 days before spike, have been back to Dentist today who confirmed that trauma to the jaw is the likeliest cause and that it should subside as the socket heals.
