    Boca Raton, FL
    Tinnitus Since:
    August 31, 2016
    Cause of Tinnitus:
AC/DC concert at the BB&T Center, Sunrise, FL
Tinnitus onset August 30 in the evening, as a result of attending an AC/DC concert at the BB&T center in Sunrise, FL. I got a referral to see ENT. I and called the ENT daily to try to snatch any cancelled appointment and I successfully got in by September 9. I got a shot of Dexamethasone in my left ear because that's the one the audiology exam showed some mild hearing loss. I returned September 13 with anxiety, questions and wanting my ear looked at to see if it was healing well. It was. I got a prescription for 10 mg of Prednisone at 6/day for 7 days and tapered down from there for a few weeks. I was afraid of side effects, but started it September 16. Today is Sept 18, and the volume is surprisingly lower. I stood under my living room ceiling fan and enjoyed the quirky sound that specific one makes.i also am enjoying the fridge sounds, my cats snoring and my daughter's breathing while sleeping. This is good, for now. What I hear is like the normal sound if wearing earplugs when one has not obvious problem. Perfect silence is never possible, even for price with perfect hearing.

    So, meds list:
    1) Dramamine for kids (chewable). Why? I was so scared of having this new sound for the rest of my life that I developed a week long aversion to most food. I could handle fruit, plain bread and plain chicken. I didn't want to even see anyhing rich or seasoned.
    2) One Sudafed PE each morning for two days (in case I had fluid in middle ear from my dust mite allergy)
    3) 1/2 of a 2 mg Valium (I cut them in half and took a half a pill each night for 4 days, 9/13-9/17)
    4) 1 single Zoloft the first night I went to the general practitioner (GP) made me drowsy, which was good. I don't need it though. I've been staying busy and reading research journal articles (Tinnitus Journal and others), about tinnitus afflicted celebrities and nouse-decibel law in various states and countries each day. I played piano with the una corda pedal and that really lifted my mood. I also wore earmuffs.
    5) Dexamethasone intratympanically injected in my left ear on Sept. 9. (10 days after onset of tinnitus)
    6) 10 mg of Prednisone starting at 6 per day for 7 days. Started Sept. 16.
    7) Cut my coffee down to 1/2 c of my favorite dark roast.
    8) Nothing else but food. I had a good aversion from intense fear (terror) and anxiety ftomAugust 31 to September 13. Each doctor visit calmed me down even more than the reading. These docs helped me a great deal. Also, I have lots of friends and family. I appreciate all of your posts and I hope mine is helpful, too.
