My doctor in South Africa, where I was living at that time, gave me a check up when I reported having tinnitus but offered no solution. I realise now that I have had it occasionally in the past whenever I had a bit too been drinking but did not realise that it was indeed tinnitus and not just part of the giddy feeling you get under the influence of too much alcohol. It is exactly the same high pitched singing noise as listening to a cicada!
