    Cause of Tinnitus:
    Virus
I am writing this about my husband who suffers severe tinnitus. The Dr. felt it was caused by a virus. He has been to many, many Drs. over time, along with MRI's, CAT scans, bio feedback, acupuncture, chiropractors, ENT's and I am sure there are many others, but to no avail. It has been a life altering situation for him and for his family to watch him suffer. He has also been on many different types of medication.
Ten years ago there was a lay off at his job. He was one who lost his job, but he had the years and age to retire. I thought it would be a good thing, but really it has not. He lost his identity and started drinking to cope. He really thinks that the tinnitus is better when he drinks, but after everything I have read it can make it worse along with caffeine and smoking. So now we are dealing with a depressed person (who does take meds for depression) and a person who drinks, but is in denial about his problem. I am here to join in to see what I can do as a spouse to help him. We have been together for 37 years so it has been devastating watching all of this unravel. Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.
