    Unknown. Genes maybe? Runs in family.
    I actually don't remember not having Tinnitus, but do remember the noise as a toddler at least. It's always been extremely difficult for me to fall asleep(and sometimes stay asleep) without tv, radio or some other type of noise to drown it out.
