Wish all tinnitus sound therapy/zapper YouTube videos warned to never play at high volume or anywhere near your head. It's a scary time and people end up causing more damage desperate for relief. I can play sound (6khz) from a speaker on low about 8 ft. away and it calms the squeals but I learned that. These videos need warnings and instructions.

They should create an option of an auto-db sound limit sensor to prevent going louder than the db you selected. (Is there a such thing?)

Don't ever use head phones again... or you risk making things worse.

I know people who have gotten worse from these tinnitus tracks on youtube. I don't recommend this

My top pitch tone spikes as well when its on but at a low low volume after 30-60 min. it calms/slows the squeals once I stop. Must be used with caution. I'm sure some people arent aware to adjust volume and have the speaker at a distance and hurt their poor ears.

Noooo @Travis Henry nooo you are not! This is not the news you want to hear and hopefully someone will back me up but after 2 & 1/2 years I've made some kind of weird breakthrough. I've been pushing thru with lots of prayer,hope I don't offend anybody, but I believe I'm getting strength from somewhere, maybe my mom's spirit, definitely from my Higher Power

I gotta somehow get the strength to sell all my stuff by then without worsening myself. but i am homebound and room bound just about.

What do you mean you aren't taking care of yourself? I'm not to proud to tell u I went days without a shower for awhile. I literally could not stay awake. Husband eally didn't know what to say. I'd pull it together & get supper cooked. But the suffering was really tough. Do what you have to do if that means stay in a quiet place do it. Get a cat - me & him would sleep all day. I didn't feel lonely.

@ajc got any suggestions on things to try ?

I take some valium not a lot but it doesn't really help idk why I take it. Nothing absolutely nothing quiets the screaming in my head except the very random day of weather change I can't figure out. I get a light day.

@InNeedOfHelp Embrel looked good til I read the potential side effects..I have neck spurs & arthritis also Graves' autoimmune so I'm leary of trying it darn it.

I have some and I am tempted to take it.

Please lmk if the prednisone helps? They gave me some years ago but told me the damage was done. I have heard a steroid shot in inner ear helps can't get a Dr to give me one.

I just did everything wrong and let people push me to not protect my ears more & push me to go out to loud places when I shouldnt have when I only had loud T... even with ear plugs it worsened me. I feel like such a dumbass for not standing up for my health.

I shoulda stayed home from work as sooon as I got bad T with Mild H and took as long as I needed to to get things under control and stay in quiet as much as possible.

@Travis Henry I honestly don't think anything of that would have changed the outcome. When did you first start having it and why? Do u ever have vertigo?

I want to try Susan Shores device at the least.

Misunderstand me correctly, I'm also waiting for Shore, but directing every thought, prayer and second of my time towards thinking about this is extremely counter-productive. Putting my mind to something productive helps me move focus away from the sound while I wait.

Yes it is horrid not being able to just play and enjoy guitar! Id advise you get musicians earplugs, wear them, they allow you to still hear, they just drop the db a bit. And maybe try magnesium supplements, I had success with it in the past, about 5 years ago.

Please stop blaming yourself. I play a little (acoustic) guitar & sing. I gave up my music for over 2 yrs. I never ever thought I'd not have music. I picked up my guitar a few weeks ago. Have no calluses. Went to a community jam last week. An electric bass player & monitors. I stuffed Kleenex in my ears but it was f'd up. I want some of those fancy ear things singers use. Any suggestions anybody??

No relief sadly. My life is a complete wreck now. I have lost all self worth due to not being able to work out or go to work. I dunno what to do anymore.

F masking sounds (sorry) no luck for me. I'm reactive to weather change and really bad sleep habits. It's frikkin 130 a.m. my husband hits the hay at midnite every nite & up at 8.why I do this to myself? He's got chronic leukemia & had massive heart attack end of Jan.2 stents. He still works p-t & on the farm. I think sweating alot helps him.i sit & watch tv alot. I'm waiting to get an appt with a therapist.

And hyperacusis?

I had a degree of hyperacusis during. During onset. Maybe 3 to 4 months. Then my T settled into a constant super high pitch whine that it has remained at until this day. Or until my spike last month anyways.. after about three weeks I was back to this base pitch. As far as reactive.. it mostly depends on my current state of anxiety.

Love you brother. Stay strong, Im trying to start the disability process , cause it don't look like I am gonna return to work ever again. Sucks to have it be this debilitating, god I hope somehow a year from now if I can make it, itll be better and I can have some form of life again.
