I’m doing better. Phonophobia is more under control, hyperacusis still improves, distortions are sometimes there, tinnitus still fluctuates which is still challenging but I started to apply acceptance with my tinnitus. I feel like it’s helping. Still have lots more room for improving

Thx for asking! I’m doing okay. My T spike from covid finally settled down. Ears are unclogged and not muffled anymore from congestion, hyperacusis still is improving, and phonophobia is under control for the most part. I started to apply acceptance and coming to terms with tinnitus. This line of thinking is helping me cope way better.

HI @aura, My only main symptom was a severe sharp pain every time i swallowed. My ears are clogged up a bit too. And my tinnitus has spiked too. My taste is gone. Slowly starting to decrease. I thinking its ETD related though.

Sound sensitivity is becoming less and less of an issue as the months go by. i’m about 70%-80% recovered from it. One of my biggest triggers was doors closing with moderate force. I can handle it much better now with no issues. The improvement with doors occurred this month.

Although sensitivity does creep Back sometimes and I push through….
      I use plugs outside 10 or 17 decibels but that’s ok….
Every day is a step forward and I’m much better than I was….
I still keep things low level at home….

In terms of sound sensitivity, I’m about 65% to 75%% recovered. Sounds in the house don’t bother me much anymore. Tolerance is almost back to normal levels. I still have other issues pertaining to hyperacusis like loudness in certain frequencies, reactivity and some hearing distortions.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with a pan of boiling water. I've been doing it for years, and it's gotten me through tons colds/flus, chest infections and Eustachian blockages. Just remember to add some oil to the water once it's boiled.

Do they sell Olbas oil in the US?

Thanks for the Info. The steam inhaler was called Vicks personal steam inhaler. It had a lot of positive reviews, but I don’t honestly get it. It has an adjustable slider to control steam levels, but even at max levels, it barely produced sufficient steam . Possibility it may have been faulty

@ZFire Some people listen to music as sound therapy, so I think podcasts works as well, if your ears can tolerate it. I'd say, anything that you can listen to that your ears tolerate is great. I'm going to experiment with some very low level brown noise, because it's richer in lower frequencies, as I'm extremely sensitive to high frequencies.

        Podcasts definitely count.

The beginning for me was watching television at low levels without hearing protection on.

Can't see any difference between that and a podcast personally; as long as there isn't going to be any sudden loud noise in the 'cast', and if there is that you know about, you're keeping a finger on the volume.

Sounds like ETD, or fluid trapped in your Eustachian Tube.

Try steaming with a decongestant oil (like Olbas), and maybe put some on your pillow at night. Also menthol chewing gum helps.
