I spent 30 minutes in the car sitting next to a toddler having a complete meltdown. A lovely trip to the park with my best friend and her daughter turned out to be the trip from hell. My ears are hurting sooo much, I'm completely freaking out. Holy shit toodlers can scream. I am SO annoyed at myself for not bringing ear plugs.

At one point I nearly said I wanted out of the car and I'd catch an uber home but it was so awkward. My friend was very apologetic, I had no idea kids could lose it like that.

How on earth do parents with tinnitus deal with screaming kids????

The worst part is I was going to take my own car but at the last minute agreed to go with her because I didn't know the way.

I know I can be over dramatic at times but honestly this was horrific. I'm pretty sure people with normal ears would have felt pain.

@sleepingsiren I feel like a burden too :( I have hyperacusis but I would say it's only mild as I only have pain with loud noises.

Yeah they are intense. You have to block and ask them to quieten down (depends on age), or just let them be and go elsewhere. With other people's kids blocking your ears should be enough and if their parents get insulted, then tough. Being in a car with a toddler is a tricky situation for sure.

Oh Holly, so sorry you had to endure that! I went through that and I had hyperacusis. I remember putting my toddler on her crib and running out of their. But glad my kids are big now. I hope you calm down and feel better tomorrow.
