      Hi all,

New to this situation. Not a happy camper I guess you could say.

      37 male
I don't work nor am I around a noisy environment.

Went to two urgent care in past 10 days and have gotten antibiotics, nasal spray and ear drops.

Went to ENT today and was prescribed 20mg of pregnasone (spelling?) 3x a day.

      Fingers crossed

What caused it to flare up? Sick? Loud noise? Impact/accident?

Think of it as a loose tooth. Knowing it's there makes you tongue it and you will always notice it. Once you forget about it being there. The level of ringing will normally taper off some or altogether at least to a point where you'll forget it's there unless you think about it. The mind is a powerful thing. People get highly stressed out at first and focus on the noise causing things to be worse.

My best advice is to stay busy and try not to focus on it.

I'm not joking. Just now From thinking about the loose tooth reference I reminded myself I have a chipped tooth and now i can't stop licking it. Sigh... I'll forget about it again... But for now my tongue will just have to be sore. Lol.

Lol. Sounds like a good way to shift the focus.

I don't know what caused the flare up. No sickness, no real loud noise. Normal activity of using earbuds at the gym then a few hours later I notice an odd ringing with a cloudiness in one ear.

Yes. Some of the middle range there is a severe drop off from that ear.

Welp that drop is most likely your issue. Welcome to the club. I've most likely had a loss of hearing in my left ear since I was a baby/child. Tinnitus didn't kick in until my early 20s.

I have no idea what triggered it or if I've just never noticed it before and once I noticed it I focused on it and amplified it by doing so. I remember the first few months. Anytime I was in quiet room even if I didn't hear ringing I was looking for it and sure enough I'd find it.

Be careful with your ears. Wear plugs. If using ear buds keep the volume down and try to go on about your day like normal. Try not to focus on it and you will most likely forget about it maybe not now or a month from now but at some point it won't stand out nearly as much if maybe not at all.

      Thanks.

After looking up T and finding this forum I've realized that any remedy that is directed to me is going to be trial and error.
I downloaded a hearing test for ios and I'm going to see what hz I struggle to hear with that ear and hopefully as the steroids kick in more there will be a change for the better along with lessened noise.
