I'm curious if any TT member located in the U.S. has had any experience in starting a local tinnitus support group working through the American Tinnitus Association or other U.S. associations experienced with tinnitus. I'd like to know how the experience of creating such a local group went for you, good or bad, and if the experience has led to a viable and helpful organization for you and your local members. I'm in a more rural area of the U.S. without any local T support group(s) but I believe there are many more sufferers out here who might benefit from such a new, local support group. Thanks.

I was wanting to start a local support group and spread awareness for mental illness for a few years now. I was also wanting to create the same thing on an online public channel like google plus and facebook. Is that a good idea? There is nothing like that here in my small town. After developing this evil tinnitus I want to start a support group even more than ever! Having tinnitus and mental illness is a deadly combo literally! I have suffered long enough, so have all of you, and everyone else who has tinnitus! What do you all think? Is it worth it? Should I? Face to face support I think would be the best. Also spreading online and local experience and awareness for the two conditions would most likely be beneficial. I think? It has already been done before but just never in my town? Any thoughts or criticisms'? Tanks.

I was thinking the exact same thing as a matter of fact. I am hoping to. Nothing like that exists in my small town. I hope I can do it. How are you feeling? How are you coping? Please take care.
