      Hello all!

This isn't my success story... I hope soon I'll have one.

My mom disclosed my struggles with tinnitus (newbie, I'm a little over 2 months in) to her friend, who is the mom of one of my best friends. She texted me today saying she was sending good wishes, and that she HAD tinnitus and vertigo for a few months a couple of years ago. She said the cause was a virus, and that exercise really helped her.

Just thought I should share whatever success stories are available so there are as many as possible on here <3

      Hugs to all of you.

      xxx Clare

That’s nice. Usually viral or Meniere's related tinnitus can go away.

Noise exposure... not so much :(

I read stuff about people recovering from noise exposure related tinnitus all the time.

I got mine from a virus (I think) and I sometimes WISH I got it from noise, so that I too could be one of these success stories.

The point being, the grass is always greener, and it's natural to look at other people's success stories and say "that can't happen for me because X". You and I are both filtering – looking at the evidence that confirms our hypothesis ("I have special, non-fixable tinnitus") and disregarding evidence that contradicts it.

Whilst I have every sympathy for your outlook, please don't spread these notions that certain things are absolute with tinnitus. ("Noise-induced tinnitus can't heal", "people with a certain type of tinnitus are worse off") Nothing is absolute – there are success stories on here for EVERY type of tinnitus. And I firmly believe it's wrong to make people feel like they're doomed because of their particular situation. It's not accurate, it promoted a negative mindset that makes healing more difficult, and it just straight up makes people feel crappy.
