There was a huge party that could have been awesome, there was all my friends etc, but the music was SO LOUD that I was scared as hell that my T would increase because of that :( Ofcourse I had earplugs with me but I didn't want to take any risk at this point... I still hope that my T would stop one day and I thought it just wasn't worth it but I'm still pissed off. This post was just pointless moaning :(

You did the right thing, and you know it. Same thing happened to me very recently and yes, it sucks. Oh well, life goes on. :)

If only our ears could repair themselves like they do in birds. Free like a bird, free from tinnitus. Wouldn't that be something.

Good for you. Nobody else will save you.
I've been running out of parties since 1974.

Hey Katrina: If you had ear plugs and still were worried, you did the right thing. Congratulations! Smart girl.

You still are new to tinnitus. As time goes on, you will figure out how to cope with these situations (maybe ear muffs on top of plugs?) and what stuff you need to flat out avoid (I recently turned down free tickets to a Billy Joel arena concert). It will not be like this forever and you will be able to do more than you think.

PS: luv your sweet kitty avatar

I know I did but my friend sends me all the time messages "omg here is so awesome" and it doesn't help me at all... I hope that they could live with T like even a week and then they would understand my feelings :(

That would be awesome.... Mom, I want to be a bird!

Yes, I thought that it is just one evening and this ringing in my ears will certainly be permanent if I let they get damaged even more than they are now... I just love my ears so much more than I love being drunk and surrounded by loud music :)

Totally did the right thing! Even though theres a 50 % chance you would have been fine its not worth the risk.. Ive been to a few loud ones since with no ear plugs and have gotten lucky.. But doesnt mean im always gonna be thst lucky in the future.. Im deff wearin earplugs now just incase. And your friends would have done the same thing if they were in your boat so dont worry bout it.. Its your life not theres.. And missin out on some fun is totally worth it then makin your health worse. Tell your friends to not have the music so loud and still can have fun! I dont understand why people need music THAT loud to begin with.. But all those people will prob end up with T too if they dont stop!

Im glad to hear that you are sensible! I have also decided not to go to very loud parties anymore. 2-3 hours of fun is not worth months of misery. You are very smart for 19! Also, I can tell you, I hardly think you are missing anything by not going to loud parties. Instead you can have some friends over and have a nice evening with them cooking, playing board games etc., go to cafes and restaurants (with plugs if necessary), the theatre. Also, there are probably lounges and bars with more sensible noise levels. Also, as you mentioned, you love your ears more than being drunk and in loud music. I have to say that in my country people also tend to get immensly drunk at parties and by 1 am the conversation one would be having would not be very articulated. At least ous livers will be thanking us as well:D

While I respect your decision, I will be a bit honest, if you had ear plugs I think you should be ok, I don't think u should let tinnitus rule your life, the more you let it dictate what you should do or not do, the more importance it will have. Enjoy your life, take your ear plugs and wear them, that alone will cancel the vast majority of sound waves coming your way and protect your ears!!!

The thing is you have to live your life in order for your brain to realize that the beep in your ears is irrelevant and then your brain will overcome it, if you start escaping situations because of your tinnitus you're doing nothing but letting tinnitus take over and your brain freak out because of tinnitus!!!

I have had tinnitus for several years perhaps and I lived and never even thought of tinnitus despite hearing it, at night id think its how silence is supposed to sound, its only when I learned tinnitus has no cure and what I hear is tinnitus that I started to freak out, and get anxiety and panic attacks and suicidal.... it took me a while to understand how silly I am for feeling this way when in the past I wouldn't even notice it. I eventually went back to living my life, I wear ear plugs but I do anything everyone else does and I care about tinnitus less and less and the less I care the less I hear it!
