Nasonex-Like Nasal Spray, Could It Worsen Tinnitus?

I had a perscription for Nasonex, the woman gave me "Mometasone Sandoz" instead, said it was exactly the same

My ENT prescribed this to maybe sort out my eustachian tube clicking when swallowing.

I took it, and now a few hours later, I hear a completely new, pretty loud tinnitus in my right ear. An hour ago I had a LOUD fleeting tinnitus, but this happens from time to time, lasted for about 20 sec, i dno.

Could this be the nasal spray? Or just me being a little congested?

I am panicking

 

I can feel there's kind of a pressure change in that ear as well

I've taken ONE sniff of it. Could that cause worsening of tinnitsu?=

 

umm Nasonex doesn't cause Tinnitus, this page you posted doesn't contain any information neither.... don't worry Ihave been using Nasonex for a long time now, if anything it helps with the Tinntitus related to ETD

when i sniff air i can hear "air bubbles" cracking in my sinuses for like two more seconds, so maybe it's just a sinus pressure thing...

 

it's not nasonex though, this one is cheaper. the pharmacist said it was exactly the same, but that it was cheaper due to some patent things

 

Itll probably pass I had the same thing with "air bubbles" in my sinuses when taking prednisolone.. But it went away pretty fast

 

The mometasone should have a fairly powerful effect on your sinuses and middle ear if there is eustachian tube involvement. You should hear all sorts of noises as the inflammation goes down and things get back to normal.

Noise is not always a bad sign!

 

The new sound is gone.. But now I'm scared lol. Should I keep taking it?

(Actually, I do take it--for spring pollen allergies. It works great.)

I used nasonex, did not make tinnitus worse

 

The nasonex caused sound is completely gone (went away an hour after i posted this thead) and i suppose my T in general seems softer. So I just took a new sniff of it

I use avamys (fluticasone) twice daily and hasn't made my T worse

Erland it could have been the anxiety that caused a new sound for a lil... I notice when im at my most anxious state that i think i hear a new tone like last week my work was vaccuming and it was a hardcore loud vaccume and i couldnt escape it and nearly had a panic attack then i thought i heard a lower tone but either i did and it went away or i just thought i did. Idk but i also noticed when im real real anxious fleeting T happens more frequently and im tryin to stay more calmer and the past month its only happened like 3 times so idk

 

It was definitely not anxiety - it was a complete new sound of another character with sudden onset, and I could feel a pressure / air bubble.

But it went away that same night. Now my T is lower than ever, I'm verry happy about that. I think the nasonex wannabe is helping me.

So yeah my whole day was very good - until I got a response from an ENT I emailed about my spasms in the middle ear muscles. In the response, he said "you probably have Hyperacusis blablabla", but I had already adressed that I do NOT have that, it is almost completely gone.

And he didn't adress the spasms at all, which was really what I asked about (and paid $20 for....)

So even though he obviously didn't read my info very well at all, and had a very uneducated response, I am now very anxious about having H....

Being told that I don't have it on another forum (as I have no problem with loud music, i just get easily startled by nosie), my sound sensitvity went away. So I think whatever I have is psychosymatic, and that mental strength can heal it.

So now, I'm nervous that being TOLD that I have it will turn the placebo the other way around again... But I KNOW that I don't have it... Then why am I nervous? Man..

 

I too have those spasms in my ear when I hear the slightest enexpected sound.

I believe it's the protective mechanism that kicks in and being to overactive.

Seems like the brain is making subconscious "assumptions" to protect the ears after trauma.

It's like someone can have an anxiety attack out of the blue, and then later realize it was because of a sound or a smell that they experienced and subconsciously reminded them of a trauma a lot earlier in their life.

I would think mental health is very important in this aspect.

Also had severe H, but like you said.. It only got worse by dedicating my thoughts to it.

Once I started ignoring it, use every day tools without protecting my ears and stop worrying about it.. It pretty much went away.. I think a lot of this simply is a state of mind.

I haven't had the spasms today at all! I think the nasonex thing is doing good things!

I used the spray again today, because it helps me with another problem sometimes.

A few hours later, I noticed a pressure feeling in my left ear. I still do. There is a loud ring that reacts to sound. So when someone talks to me, or I talk my self, there is a loud ringing and pressure feeling in that ear.

I'm not really nervous now, because as long as that pressure feeling is so very present, I assume this reactive ringing will go away with it.

Has anybody else noticed something similar?

No idea how legit it is... But the reactive T here seems so connected with the pressure feeling. I hope it goes away.
