Hi, I’m new to the forum.

I have only had tinnitus in one ear for around a week but am already struggling. I’m meant to be moving cities and starting a new course but just feel like I can’t look forward to anything.

I’m not sure of the cause, I went to a nightclub a few days before it started but also had a bad cold, sneezing etc for the week before. Can anyone give me reassurance this might be temporary, what is the likelihood of that?

I don’t feel like going out just now but have got worried that if I go out with friends and drink alcohol, can it make my tinnitus worse?

      Thanks.

      Hi Chester,

I'm 5 weeks today into tinnitus after my noise trauma - it still sucks no doubt, but what I can tell you is that even at this relatively short term with it - it is much better than that first week. The first week is the absolute worst - I swear the only thing that got me through was the thought that this might stop sometime soon... I'm still hopeful.

There are a few good success stories on YouTube definitely worth a watch - search 'Tinnitus Success' and watch Federico's and Lyli's vids - David Lam also put up a great success story - search his name.

I have watched each dozens of times, plus read more or less every success story on Tinnitus Talk.

This is the hard part, I am sure we will be both fine.

Thanks. Yeah, it’s still there and the last week has been pretty bad. I think my anxiety is getting a bit better though which helps.
