I have T since september 2013. The first stage was insane. No sleep I hardly ate. The stress was humongous.
Since last month my hair started shedding enormously.
Has anyone experienced hair fall after T? If yes plz let me know how u handled it.
      Thanks in advance

Yes, I started losing a lot more hair than normal about 3-6 months after the onset of my T. (Like you, for that first month I was so stressed-- lost weight, hardly slept--- but then started improving shortly thereafter). The hair loss was probably at it's worst right around 6 months out, so I went to see my general practitioner about it. My doctor said that excessive hair loss is a totally normal result of that type of stress and weight loss. I started taking biotin and iron ( I was slightly anemic) and with improved diet, sleep and less stress ( I habituated to the T), I am doing great now. My hair is back to normal-- I would say just give it some time and continue to take care of yourself.

Your hair fall is caused by stress. Mine started shedding about 5 months after onset

      Hi, Nana,

It's possible that the antidepressant could cause some of the hair shedding, but it is more likely to be due to stress.

I've been losing hair for quite awhile now, due to an underactive thyroid. When my tinnitus first started, it got really bad. As a result of the stress from the tinnitus, pulsatile tinnitus, etc., I ended up with adrenal fatigue, too. That made things even worse. But now, almost 4 years later, things are much improved!

I believe that if you can get a handle on the stress. and begin sleeping again, you will feel much better, and a lot of these symptoms will subside.

      Best wishes,
      Karen

@nana - Like others have said it's likely related to stress. I think once you're better able to manage your stress, you should notice your hair will be back to normal.

And it could also be the Cipralex. Someone on this forum says .1 - 1% of people who have taken it report hair loss. Not sure where that info came from though... http://www.depressionforums.org/forums/topic/45206-cipralex-hair-loss/

I haven't noticed my hair falling out, but I have noticed a crap ton of gray hairs lately. I believe that to be related to stress as well.

I guess its true: stress is the biggest culprit.
Just another issue to try not to worry about!!!
Thank you all for your input. Again this forum has proved its helpful foundation.

stress can cause MASSIVE amounts of changes in one's body - from hair falling out, to T. , to blood pressure problems, to eyesite problems, to tooth problems (grinding your teeth), to muscle and bone pain, to nausea and stomach problems, to lightheadedness or diziness, to urinary and bowel problems, to infections (lowers your immunity),to...well, everything!!

years ago, when my wife and I were going to separate, I lost 27 pounds in a 3 week span...I thought I had cancer!! turned out the stress was causing me to not only lose my appetite but also seriously increase my adrenaline and metabolism, so I was just burning right through anything I put in my body, even though I wasn't exercising as much.
