Tinnitus Gone After 2 Years for a Member of My Family

My mother told me, a member of my family, had his tinnitus gone after 2 years. She used Q-tip and she pushed this Q-tip in his ear. She saw a doctor, after ear pain, the doctor told him, she could lost his hearing. Actually, for my mother, she has a normal hearing.

 

Very unlikely story

 

Might be true, but broken english so it is too hard to understand what she meant.

I don't have much more detail. It was while talking with my mother, that I learned that her cousin had had tinnitus for 2 years, before (Tinnitus) disappeared. She apparently used a cotton swab to clean her ear, which she pushed too deep into her ear. She had ear pain. She went to see a doctor, who told her that it was a good thing she came to see him, because she could have lost her hearing. I explained to my mother that she must have punctured her eardrum and damaged her ossicles, if she could hear well now. My mom said she must have had surgery.
