Announcement Want to Volunteer? Looking for a Moderator

Discussion in 'Announcements & Feedback' started by Tinnitus Talk, Oct 18, 2012.

    1. Would you like to be able to ban a spammer when one emerges?

Would you like to move discussions from one category to another if it seems appropriate?

A guardian angel for Tinnitus Talk, so to speak.

It's easy & won't take any more of your time than you currently spend on here & there's no pressure whatsoever: you are free to come and go as you want, no one will follow your activity.

I'm looking for 1-2 new moderators, one of which should preferably be based in the US due to timezone differences.

Three really great members who'd fit the position wonderfully here are DezDog, erik & Fish.

Let me know if any one of you are interested...

But it's not only these three who can voice their interest, anyone is more than welcome to "apply".

      Thanks for considering,
      Markku

DezDog offered to help and thus he's now a moderator here.

      *thanks*

Good for you DezDog! High five!

I had a moment of good will and then I scrolled down to see Markku announced your willingness.

Fortunately, there is not a lot of spamming here. Although, one as to take a moment to figure out which forum category to post a thread in.

It all gets sorted out nicely here.

Thank you very much for this trust you have for me Markku but I do not think I would be a good moderator. This is a great honor for me still! Good luck DezDog I am sure you will do great!

Thanks Fish, but if I can do it, you surely can. FWIW, there have been no moderation emergencies in the last few days :)

Markku, thank you for your confidence in me. I would be willing to moderate, but I am not sure you need another person. Dez is perfect for this!

I must reiterate that Tinnitus Talk is by far the best forum out there. The others are full of in-fighting and misinformation and it is refreshing to come to a place where the people are truly genuine in their support for one another in a non-judgmental environment with real respect.

Thanks for the nice words...! This has been a great ride for me too. I guess we've just been lucky to have been able to gather such nice folks here.

And you are now a moderator, too. Now we have an awesome team and this will likely be enough for a long time going forward. Don't stress about it, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. :woot:

So from this moment going forward we have me, DezDog and erik taking care of Tinnitus Talk. Jim also comes around every now and then.

That's it for now, have a great week everyone!

Congratulations to both Dezdog and Erik! I'm sure you will both be brilliant moderators!

Erik I completely agree with you by the way. This is the first and only Tinnitus forum I have ever joined. There is too much negativity and drama on other sites. Never felt safe for me to join them. However this place feels so much more positive and supportive where people treat each other with respect.

Thank you Markku for providing this great site for the rest of us. We are all very grateful to you.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm travelling at the minute and can't keep up with the posts, but I did manage to get to listen to some awesome blues at the Kingston Mines in Chicago this week. Had to leave early last night since it felt too loud, and that's just DezDog being responsible rather than scared.

I still haven't needed to do any moderating, there's not a pile of things to do anywhere that I'm missing is there?! I don't want to be fired yet...

I hear ya Dezdog, it's better to be responsible then to risk making things worse for yourself.

By the way it's a probably a good thing that you don't have much to do yet as a moderator! That means people are behaving themselves and there are no spammers!
