When I plug my nose and blow out my ears (sounds odd) I can hear silence. Does this happen to anyone else?

I would consider that as a good sign that your T is maybe caused with something physical in your ear / throat / nose that can be cured

I just tried that ...weird . My left ear , the one more affected crackles like crazy , like air is escaping through there as opposed to my better ear where it sort of fills out and stops air ? Weird as fxxx ?

I have the exact same thing.. My worst ear (left) crackles and it sounds like air is escaping indeed.. Do you have some kind of a reactive T? Like a T that reacts to sound? I think that the crackling sound is generated by the eardrum, or at least it sounds like it in my case..

Also, my T is pretty much none existent in silence (if I plug my ears).

Not sure if that is the case with you, but its kind of interesting that this happens with the worst T ear. And this is the ear where it all started.

Also, I have noticed that if I have been driving my car for a very long time (sitting in a very strained position) Ive experienced some kind of inflammation in my left ear (I just came to think about this now).

      Maybe it could be related.

I have not felt that I have reactive T , in fact I played a loud gig the other day and felt no different.
      "Look Ma, no earplugs!"

I am a stupid ,stupid man, I know.

As for the crackle, sounds like a broken speaker. Also feels like this crackle sound would be heard by other people if they put their ears next to mine. Weird stuff ?

My family doctor suggested that but it doesn't do a thing for me. Maybe it's a good sign for you.

I have noticed that mine just gets a bit quieter. Or when I yawn and breathe in a lot of air while doing so, my T gets really quiet as well. Maybe air acts as a sort of buffer?

You guys are referring to the valsalva maneuver: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valsalva_maneuver

Avoid doing it often, if at all. I got into the habit of doing it because my left ear would always feel stuffy and by performing this action, my left ear felt normal again. However one day I must've done something wrong because caused my left ear a great deal of pain and crazy loud tinnitus for a day. This is what induced the hyperacusis/chronic ear pain in my left ear. So yeah, definitely don't get into the habit of doing it, IMO.

Think it's good to make us aware of what's good and bad things to try.I make a note of what people have tried,if it's ended up giving them more troubles by trying various things.Karen says one Blood pressure tablet set hers off worse,I'm on Blood pressure tablet,so that's been a red flag for me,made me aware of these tabs,so I hope this info keeps coming,to anything that's been tried ,good or bad outcome.Sometimes you do get hesitant do I try this or that I do,but it's helpful to us with T to have feedback on what's been of help.
One chap I know told me he gets his ears syringed twice a year for past 3 years, asked if it helped he shrugged his shoulders and said he wasn't sure,he said his T is always loud, maybe less syringing needed for him.?my ears are full most of the time, but listening to him think that's one avenue I'll for go personally.
