When I woke up today, it was silent. My head music was gone. I hope this is a good sign in recovering. It came back after 4 hours. Then it lasted for 2 hours or something, then it stopped again for 10 minutes. Normally, after I shower, my head music is at it loudest, seems like the shower noise trigger my tinnitus. But today, that did not happened either. Just a little bit, but after one minute, it was silence again.

Do you think its a good sign it was gone for four hours, or is this just random?

It might be a good sign! Is there hyperbaric oxygen therapy available in Norway? Your onset is still quite recent and that is reported to help sudden hearing loss sometimes.

Yes, there is. But they don't use that for this kind of damage here. The stupid thing about the health system in Norway is that its public, not private. And you have very little power in what kind of treatments you can have. The doctors have all the power.

Doesn't Norway have doctors / medical services working in private sector at all?

In Finland there's a good public health care system, but there's also the private sector.

For example the HBOT is here in the private sector; tinnitus (acute noise trauma) isn't an indication for HBOT in the public health care.

Naturally the services provided in the private sector aren't exactly cheap.

Yep, I paid 800 euros for 5X90 min HBOT in Helsinki. It didn't help me at all, but my damage is propably cumulative.

      @Markku

Yeah, we have private medical service too. But not that much. There is no private hospitals in Norway. Only small clinics doing stuff like vaccination, small operations and other simple stuff.

The public health care system in Norway is quite good, probably one of the best in the world. But the queues can be quite long in some cases. I had a friend who had some problem with his heart. No big deal, but it caused him a lot of pain in the chest, and he could not work out. He had to wait two years for the operation. That's like 3% of his life.

But, we had election for new government recently. And a new party won. More on the right side. The government that has ruled the last 8 years have been very far left. Anyways, the point is. Our new government wants to open more private hospitals, that means more competition and efficiency. The kicker is that the government will still pay the bill for you, even tho it's private. I think that is a good solution. People will get healthy faster, and can start working again and pay tax, instead of receiving social money.

I say, screw the military, and use it on health. That is a message to ALL countries and governments.

Oh you're Finnish. Had no clue before. We've had several Finns here within the past year. I suppose that's because as far as I know there are no Finnish tinnitus forums.

      Welcome (y)

Finland's military budget is also ridiculously high. This subject would deserve its own topic...

I find it interesting to hear about Norway's situation though as it's so close to us & I've even sometimes thought about moving there. The language is the biggest barrier. There used to quite a few Finnish expats there... nowadays fewer though.

Anyway, good to have several members here from the Nordic countries. Diversity, woohoo!

Yeah, I have one friend who is from Finland. He moved here when he was 15 or something. He speaks Norwegian with a Finnish accent. That is just hilarious.

Yeah, Norwegian can be quite a hard language to learn. We have some crazy grammar and inflections. I like English much better then Norwegian. There is so much you can say in English, that is impossible to formulate in Norwegian.

I don't know much about Finland. All I know is the Moomins. The source of many of my nightmares as a child. Terrible TV-show, so scary. Do you remember the episode with the comet? Oh my gad. It was so scary too see that comet suck up everything. It did not help that in 1996, there came a real comet in the sky. I think the name was Hale-Bob or something like that. I could not go out after dark for months. :banghead:

I remember that episode! We bought all the Moomin (Muumi) VHSs for our children to watch. Only now I understand how scary childhood it must have been!

Moomin! My niece and nephew (both under 5 yo) have watched all Moomin episodes probably ten times.

I was 6 years old when Moomin started in Finland so I got to enjoy them too in my childhood.

Compared to many current children's tv series Moomin is very high quality IMHO.
