A Very Good Technique to Try

Tinnitus is perceived as a parasite sound in your normal sounds.

So hère something you should try :
- put earplugs for 2 hours
T Will be à normal ambient sound.

- put earplugs With a little hole for 2 hours: tinnitus Will be your normal sound and ambient sounds Would be your parasite sound. Then your brain Will focus and magnifie thèses "foreign sounds".

- put earplugs With a bigger hole : etc...

With this process you Will finally reverse your tinnitus.

 

Has anyone validated this? I don't see how this will work. IMHO

 

Not à technique to validate but a simple technique worth trying.

 

This is a similar technique to what my CBT practitioner did to face his own T. He would use an ear plug for an hour or so and go about his day. This forced him to listen to, be aware of, but not fear his T ultimately helping him habituate. Definitely worth a try.

@wizman did you perform this technique and if so for how long? Do you have any other details?

 

Interesting read. Well worth a try I'd say .nothing ventured as they say .Going to get my plugs out ,be great if it works .

 

I have not tried it yet but my uncle has always used this for years. Hé had T for years.
And it worked pretty well for him.
Every three weeks he had to repeat thé process.

 

Can you try and explain it is little better.

 

Well...my friend got rid of his 2 year T . He used earplugs religiously.

 

That is amazing - your friend got rid of T after having it for 2 years! Thought it was impossible to go once it was chronic like that! Please can you explain more?

Nothing to explain really , I asked him what he did , and he said that he wore earplugs when he drove a car , when he slept , pretty much all the time when in any kind of noise.

 

So even in sleep he wore plugs......which goes against the idea that one should be exposed to sound all the time to stop the T getting louder by being focussed on.......just gets too confusing...so Razah as he got rid of it after two years wearing plugs 24/7......are you trying that then too? thanks

 

no, not trying that . It seems that people have tried almost anything except closing their ears to "make them heal".
No idea if it works that way though

 

Well i don't think it would have worked for all of us. His friend is a lucky one that's all.

I say that to avoid anybody toughts like "i should have done that" that make the person having regrets.

 

Anything is worth a try. I'll do almost anything if it brings me some relief.

 

1. At what point did your friend start wearing earplugs (beginning, middle, end of the two years)?

2. Was two years the total duration of the T?

I think a few months in , and yes he said he suffered for 2 almost 3 years.

Who knows, maybe the "hairs" need time to heal..or completely die off , as good a guess as any ?

 

Did he have hyperacusis, or develop sound sensitivity from all the earplug use?

 

nope...I have hears that is a risk but is it anything more than a myth , can anyone verify that ?

 

I've seen a few comments on the Web from people who claim their T went away after long-term earplug use, giving everything a complete chance to rest and do any possible repair.

 

Since your friend quieted the T, has he been exposing himself to sound again?

 

Yeah , sure but he stopped his live sound engineer carreer.

Self healing of hear cells 3 years after onset? Seems that is impossible :S

 

Yet, we can't say for sure exactly what was healed or what changes took place.

 

Nothing is impossible. That is one of the bright sides of this affliction...we are clueless, therefore, anything is possible.

 

I did this for over 20 years. It works.
When my T got bad, in went the cotton. I heard the T big time, but when I got "used" to it, I'd go to a smaller piece of cotton. It was a 3 step process. For me, It was the only thing that worked, until I discovered my present remedy.
