I don't this is available in the USA and you would most likely benefit from this if you have low aldosterone levels. Since this has been around for the past 6 years, if it generally helped people with tinnitus, I think we would all be on it right now. It does have some bad side effects however.

I dont see any Studies to rule this out Erik, Aldosterone deficiency can be common and can be easily undiagnosed, I support the article as keeping Aldosterone levels topped up can enhance hearing thresholds, this is extremely beneficial for people who have Tinnitus associated with hearing loss.
I totally understand your opinion as I too have questioned this finding as it was discovered in 2008 and I would of thought someone would be shouting about right now, however as you know the discovery was made using Bio Identical Aldosterone, and its quite impossible to get hold of ! unless your associated with a lab or a research Pharmacy!!!, many people used flourinef and it is not the same.

At this point I don't rule anything out, if this works, I want to know about it as I am sure we all do. There have been several promising drugs/research/ studies in the past decade however, either funds are limited or for other reasons unknown, there does not seem to be many or any follow-up studies or research stops and we never get a definitive answer. You would think that with the possibility to treat millions and the windfall of profits that would bring, the drug industry would jump all over this.

Thanks Joe, great article. I was just as OHSU a couple of months ago. Aldosterone does seem promising. Like the last line said, you have to be tested to make sure you have low levels before supplementation because you don't want to if your levels are normal but it seems to be safe if you take it for that reason.

I was told my hearing is fine, even my high frequency test was shown to be better than most for my age, however, I have always suspected that I have some high frequency loss, the super high frequencies just didn't seem as clear as they one were after the onset of T. I am wondering if Aldosterone only helps those with severe hearing loss or can it also help those with mild loss.

erik - did anyone ever suggest a hearing aid for you even though it sounds as though you have just slight high frequency loss? When my hearing was tested they said I had very slight high frequency loss that was totally normal for my age but I have heard that hearing aids can stop you hearing the T. I don't like the idea of having something actually in my ear but I'm going to ask my audiologist about this.

Click, if I have loss, it is so high that current hearing aids cannot help. Joe have you looked in to this as a possibility for you or not? Maybe not easy to get a hold of >>>

Thanks Erik - I hadn't thought of that - they probably won't help me either!
