Anyone else dealing with this type of sound? Mine gets louder with background noise. I struggle to sleep with irregular sounds.

I had a subsequent acoustic trauma that gave me about a month long spike and I was hearing crickets and birds chirping and that went away eventually.

Yes @ramza97 I have the crickets also. My head sounds like a swamp sometimes with frog and crickets sounds. Currently it’s a high pitched tinkling fire alarm sound with boiling kettles. It’s just screaming and I can hear it above all else

I also get the crickets and cicadas, usually in the evening, but they typically recede by morning.

Crickets are my loudest sound (I have like 4 or 5 at this point). I can hear it standing next to a roaring highway. The only thing that masks it is the shower.

I have the sound of a train passing by that you can hear from within your own home. Sucks man. :notworthy:

Cicadas and crickets sound, too. Background noise can spike it but it seems to spike in the evening, too. Also, I must avoid loud, high pitched screeching sounds/noise or it will spike. This is unbearable. Has anyone on here tracked the probability/stats that this goes away ever and if so, when? This is torture for me.

The only relief is when it goes down in volume and on some occasions, down in volume to white noise. I can't sleep when it's at this volume no matter what I try to mask it. It's bad at this point in time, at this time I'm posting this. :-(

Take away the frogs sound and it sounds like we share a very similar T condition/sound. I would describe it virtually the same way.

It fluctuates between the light hiss and tone. Yesterday it was a hiss for half the day, and tone for the other half. It seems to follow my circadian rhythms.

I have static and crickets. The volume of them has improved, I ignore it best I can. They just add to the everyday sound.

Hi @astaff14 I hope you're well. I'm just taking it one day at a time. Exercise, processing my emotions regarding my health, deep breathing exercises, guided meditation, eating healthy and sleeping a lot have been key for me. Treating my hyperacusis through sound therapy has also brought slow improvement of my tinnitus because it was spiking through even moderate sound. How are you feeling?

      love and respect

I had that for awhile. It can go away. My frogs and crickets are gone. I even had bird chirps.

How is everyone doing on this thread? I am two weeks out from an acoustic trauma and I have unmaskable tinnitus that is like hissing radio static. Also sounds like a blown speaker/crickets/tinkling. The sound is constant but some sounds briefly increase the volume, making it somewhat reactive. There is also a lower tone eeeee sound.

I hear the hissing sound all day and night even when driving in my car/having conversations/outdoors, etc. Only the shower masks it.

Is there any chance these awful noises will improve over time??

My acoustic trauma related tinnitus increase improved drastically after about 4 months. My tinnitus is more reactive than it once was and I am more prone to small spikes, but I live normally again now. I have even experienced more fire alarms (my initial trauma) since and have been ok as I protected myself.
Honestly that trauma seriously increased my tolerance for my tinnitus as well, for which I am grateful.

Stay hopeful. I wore ear plugs everywhere except in the house for months and I think that seriously helped me.

      Hi CAgirl,

I'm sorry that this has happened to you. I also have unmaskable tinnitus. Mine changes hourly/daily. I have had improvement slowly. Also as my hyperacusis is healing and with the use of hearing aids I have had more improvement. It's is still very severe but I've gotten use to it over the last year and reclaimed most of my life. There is hope. Don't despair things can improve.

      Love and respect
