      will it cure it?

i have heard that even after it was cut the tinnitus still kept on ringing!

It seems there is no end to this terrible noise!

that would mean we would need to get into the brain to fix it since tinnitus could be coming from the brain itself and not from the ear?

This is current belief. Any phantom perception (Auditory, visual, pain etc etc) is believed to be driven from within the brain not form the periphery.

I read that in 50% cutting the nerve helps to cure there tinnitus, but in the other 50% it comes back and often much worse as you can't mask it anymore. Not worth the risk imo.

Cutting the nerve is a bit more than a risk. You will go deaf.

Many ENT´s here where i live have said to me chronic T isnt in the ear anymore.
You can cut nerves, cut the whole inner ear away.... no one can promise you the cure.
And when you go 100% deaf after those operations and the T keeps on going...
I think tinnitus is here to stay.

The funny thing is tinnitus often can be made to go away for example through residual inhibition or on its own but it simply comes back. Many people report that their tinnitus is getting quieter or even gone away. But it always seems to come back as if it is trying to tease us.
