      Hi all

      Anyone get this.

I have my hearing aids and they take the edge off my T.

I have the Acoustic CR neuromodulation in my ears for 6 hrs a day.(has not helped just use it as a masker)

Now,when I have just my ears "naked " to the world with nothing In them or no noise in the surroundings ,my ears start to build up an intollerable pressure and the T gets louder. Nowthe louder could be perception only but this pressure build up Isnt.

Any of you fellow members get this ? Its horrible, only word for it.
Or any Ideas whats going on

      Keep fightin ,Pete

Pete -- I didn't purchase a hearing aid because it did weird things to me after I removed it (I only have T and hearing loss in my right ear).

I have both ringing and pulsating, and it seemed to increase the intensity of both after I removed the hearing aid for the day.

Is that similar to what you're experiencing?

Hi Karen,Hi Louise. Basically I had habituated for 20+ years then 2 years ago i had a cattarh infection which got Into my ears ,I woke up one morning at about 1:30am with my T noise at 10/10 (im not kidding) and a pressure In my ears that was so bad I couldnt lie down.Had heard about T and panic attacks never had one till that night.I got up and paced around all night ,next 2 days and nights I cannot begin to tell you It was a nightmare In my head. Those next two nights spent walking the streets trying to get away from my head if you know what Imean.

Fell into the GPs that morning ,she said I had an ear infection. 8 weeks later and 4 lots of antibiotics cleared it and ive been left with T which Is a lot louder than it was before this episode and ears which feel ruined ,lots of pressure, again a lot calmer than the "episode" but not good .Frustatingly as probably for all of us ive had all the tests ,E tube pressure test and all sorts ,all they can find Is "sleight to moderate" high freq loss.

After this episodehade made things worse i saw privately an Ear dr who said hearing aids would take the edge off my T ,and he was proved right ,it also strangely helps the pressure as I said. Take them off and its like the pressure slowly builds because my ears are straining to hear. But strangely If the ears can lock onto noise like TV then the pressure eases as well ,very odd.

      Thanks for listening ,Pete

Wow! I'm so glad the hearing aids take the edge of your T. That is good news. It's strange that the pressure builds up after you remove the aids, and that a noise (at a particular frequenty, perhaps?) can ease the pressure. It might have something to do with sound frequencies, but I don't know much about that myself. Maybe some of the folks on here who work with music and sound can help.

I have had this but a milder form. I've had a feeling of my ears 'turning themselves inside out' to try to hear something if Im in silence (which I never am now).
It also used to feel like my head was going to explode.

Wont it be the Tensor Tympani at play?

I remember you Pete from the previous RNID forums, when I first got tinnitus in 2010 the RNID forum was my go-to place. I was there 24/7. You posted very actively with the same username there back then.

There was also this "Yahweh Ben Yahweh" guy who I wonder what happened to him, he was having it very rough.

Hiya Markku ,yes buddy Ive got you now as well.

..and like you when im on these forums ,I think of that guy. A lot of people on that Forum thought he had psychiatric issues. Im 70/30 that he In fact was suffering horrendously with T and that infact was his only Issue.
He ,If you recall went to belgium and saw Dr De Ridder (name?) and got no joy.

Markku ,I often wonder if he took a certain course of action If you get my meaning.

Great Forum Markku ,well done. That RNID forum was great ,then they shut It for acouple of weeks to open up In a new format and sadly lost a lot of members ,why I couldnt understand.

Indeed, I remember YBY had a blog where he regularly posted something, but some time ago I tried googling for it and couldn't find it any more...

It remains a mystery. I remember he even had some very advanced imaging (different from the usual MRI) made on him (yeah he went to Belgium but as far I remember he also had some imaging done in Scotland...) and that some neuroscientists in New York checked the pictures of his brain.

He really tried whatever he could to get to the bottom of it.

And yep, some people seemed to be sure he had some sort of psych issues. However, with the detail he described his horrendous tinnitus, headaches, etc, who wouldn't be going insane? I wouldn't be surprised if the physical condition became first and then the (possible, not confirmed) psychological problems came as a byproduct.

Once more I have to give you credit and acknowledgement Pete, back in RNID you just got a permanent place in my heart. You were - and are - unbelievably supportive and courteous. I clearly remember you offered some desperate people the opportunity that they could even phone you if they so wanted.

And weren't you a taxi driver at some point? It might have been another person, but somehow I attributed those beautiful black London taxis to you back then :)

Oh we just had a little moment of reminiscing! And yet the tinnitus has been stubborn and continued keeping us company...
