So I've just done week one of Masters. It's so full on. I've been going to bed at 8pm every night and still waking up exhausted. Well, I've been waking up at 3am actually, but that's probably coz I went to bed at 8! We're at uni from 8-6pm every day and then after we're expected to study another 3hrs, which I haven't done even once. Tinnitus is being a real pain. Almost lost it in class today but just made it to the bathroom before I started sobbing. Then I had all "cry eyes" after and was extremely embarrassed. I still don't know how I'm (a) every going to get used to this tinnitus and (b) have enough mental strength to get through the Masters. Everyone else has just done honours in auditory science so they know so much more than me! Me? I'm just and old lady who used to be a Maths teacher. Can't keep up with the youngies! Meanwhile some girl asked me today which high school I went to. I'm like, dude, im almost 36! Haha. Anyway, im tired. I have bad tinnitus. It's never gonna get better. I hate my life. The end. Byyyyyes for now

Are you kidding me neenie? 35 for real? I thought you were like 27/28 or something?! You look wayyyyy younger ... No wonder they are asking about your high scool!
Keep it up, you will make it through yous master studies... The first week is always extremely hard, with or without tinnitus, you'll just have to adapt and in a months or something you won't be as exhausted anymore.

And honestly - you are stronger than the T! Doing your masters!!! Imagian how much that would piss your T off - thinking and focusing of something bigger than it! :)

      Hi guys!
Yer I'm not sure why I look so young. My sister is 11 years younger than me and whenever we are out everyone assumes I'm the younger sister, haha. My sister doesn't like that much! The weird thing is that I never used to look young for my age. At 20, I looked 20. But then haven't aged a day since. The only thing I can link it to was the fact that I was anorexic from ages 20-34, and all I was eating in a day was 7 strawberries (no idea why i decided 7 was the magic number..). And nothing in my body worked. I never slept. I never ate. I didn't ever have to cut my fingernails coz they didnt grow. My hair didn't grow, at all, for several years. So maybe I just stopped the aging process by not eating, and only just restarted it now? Yer, its not fun looking really young because when I was teaching Maths in highschool it was just a bit awkward because I looked like one of the students, even though I was quite old at the time and then when we had parent/teacher interviews the parents never took me seriously, and neither did the kids! And the other thing that didn't age is my mind. I still talk and act like I'm 2o!

      That would possibly make sense.

      https://www.google.com/search?q=aging+process+fasting
      https://www.google.com/search?q=caloric+restriction+aging
      From one article:
One mechanism that has been investigated is that fasting triggers a gene whose job is to promote survival by protecting cells during times when food is scarce.

Researchers say it helps repair the damage done by free radicals and prevents cells from dying prematurely, as well as lowering inflammation.

'The gene can also slow the ageing process by reducing the risk of age-related diseases and health threats,' says Dr Johnson. 'It can reduce markers of inflammation and oxidative stress, two primary causes of ageing.

'Studies show that individuals who live to be 100 years old have lower levels of oxidative stress than those who live to be 70.'

Your period of fasting (which 7 strawberries pretty much is, or at the very least extreme caloric restriction) was very long, so who knows, that may have inhibited your aging process.

And nah, i doubt I got tinnitus from anorexia. The only thing that I can think of is that i started a bunch of new meds. But even then, I only have it in one ear, and im assuming ototoxic medication would affect both, so no idea why

neenie, im a bit worried to be honest seeing that last picture of you...you look a bit sick, pale (but not the kind of pale because you dont wear make-up,but because you dont feel good)tired and exhausted. not healthy at all ;( . nothing like in all the other pictures from better times that you have posted ;( . i tell you this not to offend you obviously, but as a little "wake-up call" for you to care more about your well-beeing..try to do what ever brings joy into your life.

Just develop a routine and stick to it and before you know it staying busy and being occupied will help you cope with tinnitus.
