Hearing Loss Is WAY More Common Than You Think

I also read recently that Veterans coming back from duty suffer with T. If the world doesn't understand or care to learn for our sakes maybe putting light on what our Vets have to deal with might shed more empathy and expedite a cure for this terrible thing.

 

I'd be happy if there was more awareness. I had no knowledge I was in any kind of danger when I went into a loud dance club for the first time in my life, never went to any loud music places before. I only spent like 10 minutes on the dance floor and got pretty loud ringing afterwards. Went to bed and it seemed to be gone the next day so I was fine. Week later notice some tinnitus and been bothering me every since.

Everything I read online makes it sound like it really shouldn't have happened to me. They all say how you could get ringing afterwards that goes away but will stay if you do it too much, but I got it my first time. I had nothing to compare the volume inside since it was the first time I heard loud music, so maybe it was just exceptionally loud. I had put my faith in the DJ and the fact that my sister had been clubbing for years without ear plugs so I thought I'd be fine, only finding out afterwards she has tinnitus too.
