Hey everyone my name is Logan and I got tinnitus back in March and I think it was caused by a ear infection that I had. It has been really hard to live with it but most times it is not that loud. The tinnitus also caused me to get Derelization/Depersonalization and I think it mainly has to do with the medicine the doctor gave me for my tinnitis. So not only have I had tinnitis all year I also have DR/DP which really sucks. But anyway I just wanted to introduce myself!

Hi, Logan, and welcome! We're glad you have joined us at Tinnitus Talk.

I certainly do understand about the meds, but don't know very much about Derealization/Depersonalization syndrome. Can you explain what that feels like?

Again, welcome to the forums. You'll find a lot of support here from many others who share your condition. Look around, and feel free to comment and share with us!!

      Best wishes,
      Karen

Derelization/Depersonalization makes you feel like you are dreaming and that you and nothing is real. It is really weird and hard to explain but the best explanation is a dream like feeling. I could go into more detail but since it doesn't really have to do with tinnitus I won't.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm so sorry you've had that, in addition to the tinnitus. I hope things will get better for you soon.

Are you still on those meds? If not, there are some natural supplements that are calming, and might help you with anxiety and sleep. I take magnesium, plus a Chinese herbal remedy for sleep. I've also taken holy basil, pharma GABA, and reishi mushrooms, all of which have calming properties.

No I'm not on the medicine anymore I stopped them quite a few months ago. I usually don't have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep but I will definitely try those if I ever need to, thank you!

Hey Logan, i used to have derealization for about a year three years back. I have t since 4 weeks now and yesterday i thought i really needed to get a whole night of sleep and used about 15mg of trazodone. While I slept well, better than ever since i got t and had a great day, I started to feel a bit derealized again now in the evening.
I hope it will vanish soon because i know what kind a hell DR is.
I hope you are doing fine and advise you the stay away from meds as much as possible. I am even considering stop using melatonin for awhile until I'm certain DR faded.

I have dereal/and depersonal... And when it hits, its horrible. Thats the main reason i was put on klonopin, so when that happens i pop one and it takes care of it. I get while driving in anxious situations, the worst time you can get it. Lexapro overall helped take care of that too. But i think besides T, it is the most scariest feeling in the world.
