      Hi T-crew :)

How are you all doing? Glad to find this place. I just found it today, seems full of info to read and real people to learn from!

I am a 38yo man from Madrid, Spain. So you have to excuse all atrocities you might read in my written English, it's far from perfect as you see.

About my T-story, it was a little messy and it all started suddenly to my scare.

I was 22 back then and under high stress for final engineering exams as well as other issues in life.

One damn day I noticed a slight arrhytmia in my heart and that very second the tinnitus started until today that im 38. At that moment (and until much later) i didnt pay much attention to tinnitus, because i didnt know what it was, and besides that what really terrified me was the arrhytmia thing. I went to several doctors and all they said was that I was a perfect handsome nervous young boy and I should chill a little, or answering stupid questions for me like... mmm maybe youre in love...I got really upset about that, because I felt something was (and is) definitely going on inside me, anyway I really hoped they were right, but they were not. This has eliminated my faith on doctors to the point i havent ever seen any other, and its been like 15 years.

My lifestyle doesnt helped nor helps at all, im kind of hyperactive, change sleep cycles, and used and use (soft) drugs like hashish and marijuana.

I think i also might have become kind of bipolar, as a consequence of all the story you're reading.

In addition and to make things worse I used to perform as an electronic music DJ and used to very loud noises, fat basses, big soundsystems, etc... although I'd discard this as the cause bcz I see it way more linked to my blood pressure/arrhytmia thing, and it all was after the T. I feel comforted while DJing bcz tinnitus is totally masked

In resume my life's pretty messy just like these 4 paragraphs that just outline random things here and there. Tinnitus is something I live with that im obviously worried about, but doesnt affect that much. As I also suspect its a side effect rather than a cause, I face it with a "sh*t happens" mentality, call me irresponsible, i know i am. I have no sleep problems, when I go to sleep is certainly because i'm really tired or dead, and i instantly meet Morpheus.

If somebody feels identified or curious about my case or want me to elaborate, feel free to drop a line :)

      take care you all
      robert.

Hi Robert and welcome to this excellent site!

Because tinnitus is poorly understood, visits to the doctor can be very frustrating, indeed. However, I don't think you should give up on them altogether. As you may already know, tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease in and of itself. There are a host of possible causes and I believe everyone should do their due diligence in ruling out some of the better understood mechanisms. Also, there are treatment options. But as you will learn from from reading posts on this site, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Certainly discuss various issues with the helpful folks at TT. But, given that you are worried bout your tinnitus, be sure to work with a doctor to see what can be done about your particular situation.

Hi Golly and thanks for your kind words.
I know I definitely should visit a doctor sometime. The reason my position's been pretty radical is a mix of my previous experiences together with fear for the unknown. I have sheer fear of blood, illnesses, etc and procrastinating is really an easy choice-only i know it doesnt help at all.
As a first step im into this site to learn about others' experiences and maybe find somebody with a similar profile.
Take care! Hope things are cool in ny!

Hi Rob; I totally understand. Peruse the postings in the "Introduce Yourself" forum and I am sure you will discover there are others whose experience resembles yours. If you find that my pattern of tinnitus sounds familiar, feel free to contact me to discuss. -Golly

      Buenas Rob,

doctors are people like everyone else, there a few bad ones, but they are not all the same, don't be put down by one bad experience :)
