I have had this tinnitus about two months now. It is really depressing because I'm only 18 years old and I feel like I'm all alone with this. I know this tinnitus is very common thing but I don't know any other young person who suffers this too. It doesn't help at all that everybody say "I only hear mine when it's completely silence"....

I have many noises in my right ear and that's all because of one loud noise. This pisses me off because that noise was something that I couldn't be prepare in advance and I have always taken good care of my hearing....

I wake up at nights many times, so I don't have enough of good sleep. I have background noises on when I go to bed but they don't mask it completely.... How do you who suffer beeping sound mask your sound? I find it almost impossible. My noises also changes all the time so it's very hard to ignore it!

I'm very depressed because of this and I really need support right now :( Sorry for my bad english, it's not my strongest language... I would also like to know how do your life partner reacts to this? I mean do you both sleep with white noise etc...

      Hey katriina.
      Please do one thing.
      Stay positive!
I know how hard this can be and I am always telling myself to do the same.
Know that there are people here who know exactly what you are going through.
My wife is very supportive. I have water fall sounds on at night to help get to sleep. My wife says she finds the sounds relaxing and that she would miss them now if they were gone.

      Hello there!
First of all, I want you to know that you are not alone at all, and that you definitely will feel better soon.
I am in a situation very similar to yours. I have had tinnitus for a little more than two months now, and in the beginning I was devastated because I am so young, I am just 24, why on earth should I have to suffer this, and will I have to suffer throughout my whole life?!
I read all the posts here saying that you just need to be patient and it will get better, and I couldn't believe them. But it turns out it really can.

I hear mine not only in complete silence. And my sound also constantly changes. I also couldn't sleep for some time, had to turn on music or some nature sounds to mask the beeping. So I really undeerstand what you feel.

But I made myself realize that it is not the end of life. I still can work, I still can have good time with my wife and my friends, so I'll be able to pull through. In the beginning the sound seemed like a catastrophe. Now it seems like a little nuisance I quickly forget about. I hope that in about six months I will learn to ignore it completely.

My advice is: have yourself checked by the best doctors to make sure your tinnitus is not being caused by something you can fix.
If this is the case, make effort to realize that tinnitus is normal. It seems improbable, but it is. There are people who hear noises louder than you do, and they are perfectly okay about it! So what you have to do is to be just a little more careful about your hearing (have a pair of earplugs, but don't use them all the time!), and be positive. A little masking, if you need it. And you'll be fine. It is possible to live well with tinnitus, it is possible to even forget you have it.
By the way, I now can fall asleep without any masking. I hear the noise, but somehow I manage to switch my attention from it.

Also, a little mind trick that helps me a lot.
I know that I'll be able to live with tinnitus for as long as I have to, I will habituate and everything will be okay. But at the same time I am almost 100% confident that in 3-5, maximum 10 years there will be a working treatment to get rid of tinnitus. The trick is not to set hopes too high and not to make it your obsession to look for this cure (because who knows when it comes out? and I can't afford to lose years of my life just sitting and waiting).
But it just feels good to know that people are working on that problem and that there will be some backup solution.

      Hey Katriina!
I have had T since i was 14 years old, I am 19 now and I enjoy life! :) and even though my T has gotten worse lately :) What I think is that (if you absolutely have to get T) its better to get it at young age, as you will find it easier to adept to the sounds, which are annoying.
I know that it seems a little rough in the beginning, but I can promise you one thing: You can most certainly have a great life with T.
Try to get as much out of the day as you can cause its really important not to think of the sounds. Try to laugh, smile and experience everything. If you feel like it, you can find my post about my journey to my own Treatment as I am currently trying to cure my T, you might find some tips, tricks and some positive thoughts, and maybe just have a little laugh, as I try to write everything in a funny way :)

I really hope you will figure out things, but always keep in mind that life is awesome, even do its a little rough at times :)!!! Try not to live by T, live with it :)

I wish you the best :)

You're not alone, I just got T 7 dad ago..not sure how. Drs say it's from flying and "should" go away. I know how you feel as I am very depressed too, suffering from anxiety attacks, highs and lows. I understand that this is really hard..
All I can say is keep yourself busy..I take long showers and try to get out of the house as much possible because being home makes it worse. Hopefully a cure comes out in the next few years.

      Sending positive thoughts your way.
