      Tinnitus Since:
      5/28/12
Hi I have been suffering with tinnitus for about a month. It seemed to have started after I was sick with a cold. I had fullness in the ear and some slight lightheadedness with the ringing. I tried antibiotics and nothing. I am no longer sick but the fullness and ringing remains. I have been to (2) ENT docs already and had a CT scan done, it showed my right maxillary sinus is is full with polyps but they said that is not it. Both docs told me to just deal, put on a radio.

I feel helpless, this has been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with, no one understands and all everyone tells me to do is calm down. Easier said then done with a constant high pitch ringing in the ear.

My next appointment is with a neurologist.

Does it make sense to just wake up with tinnitus, no real cause? Has anyone else experienced what I am?

Well I joined so I could post with people who understand what I am going through.

      Lisa

Well if it makes you feel any better it could be much worse.:) I just woke up with hyperacusis (for no reason, 3yrs ago) which finally faded after a couple of weeks but left me with a moderate case of tinnitus ever since. Hyperacusis is a gabillion times worse than T. So thank your stars you haven't gone through that. I have had T now 3 going on 4 years. There were some very bad times in the beginning but all has gotten better and it will get better for you. Anti-anxiety meds really helped me and still do from time to time. Get some noise in your world to help mask the T. Go for walks, stay active. At this point you have to try and not focus on it. Good luck, it will get better.
