      Hey everyone,
this is my first entry, but I've been a longtime stalker of this forum ;-) I've been suffering from Tinnitus in both ears and Hyperacusis since a concert in 12/2007.
What I wanted to share with you guys is that I just read in a german tinnitus forum, that there might (or might not?) be a new upcoming treatment. Someone posted that he or she had undergone some kind of new treatment (didn't specify anything except for that it was a device not medication) at the University of Zurich/Switzerland for the past 3 weeks and that his/her tinnitus has significantly gone down in volume and his/her Hyperacusis has much improved.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any further information about this and the person didn't want to answer any questions, instead he/she started insulting board members via pm and was kind of rude.
So I really don't know, if it's kind of a bad joke or whatsoever, but maybe one of you wants to contact the University of Zurich about it, I basically just wanted to let you know :)
Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my mother tongue :)

No, it's definitely a device, he/she used the word "Gerät", so no injections, no medication. But still, I don't even know, if any of it is true,.. anyways, here is the link:

He/she also says that the treatment/device will be available THIS November...

As long as it works, we probably wouldn't mind being rude :)

so guys, the mysterious swiss board member showed up again in another tinnitus forum and told everybody that the new device made his tinnitus better 60-70 % and that his Hyperacusis has gone down to 10 %. He says that the device will be available this fall and will only cost around 160 US $.
So know it really sounds like he is trying to have people contact him and sell some scam product...

I wish there was something that could really help us all, I'm going through a really rough time a the moment with my ears.. I just feel depressed :(

We are in the same boat in regards to having both T&H. I've read some pretty amazing H stories on www.hyperacusis.net/ that re-charged me in the hope for the H to become better, seems to me that it's "easier" for the auditory system to release the symptoms after some time. From posts shared here on the forum some have had very severe H for 6 months and then gradually become so much better that they finally don't feel bothered with it, I know that's hard to grasp now cause we are feeling such pain when we are exposed to every environmental noises today, but the prospect of improving substantially from H is backed up by audiologists too. For some it can take 6 months, for others perhaps 5 ears, but everyone I've spoken to about H says it will get far better. I have now finally met another person with T face to face for the very first time, it happened a couple of weeks ago. I asked him about the H and he confirmed he also struggled with severe H in the beginning, he doesn't feel he's bothered by it anymore and he told me that it "finally almost went away" as he put it. He shared with me all the typical stuff like running away from plates touching plates in the kitchen, kids screaming in the streets, the bus releasing high pressure compressed air from the valves, shopping center noises etc. He said he's not bothered by those things today and that gave me hope. He does however have "the good old" T still, but seemed to me that he deals with that in a manageable fashion.

Has the H improved at all for you since 2007 or did it arrive on a later date? When I think back I suspect I had it developing for some years prior to my T, at least I felt physical sensations on a lower level 2-3 years before getting struck by severe T. But it wasn't until the week after getting T it really exploded into this painful and annoying sensation I have now. I have decreased my plugging and I try to absorb as many environmental noises I feel possible, I believe that's right for me at least. I don't want to exclude too many noises from my everyday life in fear of creating even more sensitivity but its tuff of course, no one likes pain.

I think it's going to be easier to cope with the hopelessness of T as soon as the H gets better. Right now it's like fighting a two headed dragon. Let's swing the sword together!

Thanks for your answer per! I must say my H isn't very bad but I certainly notice that the hyperacusis gets worse when my T is louder or has changed.and I guess it got better over the years.
Even before I had T my ears were more sensitive to noise than other peoples ears , for example clubs and concerts, even bars were always too loud for me meaning I felt uncomfortable, and I always noticed a ringing afterwards which I thought was normal. I didn't know that most other people rarely experience tinnitus after clubs and gigs...
But anyways the tinnitus disturbs ne more than the hyperacusis and what disturbs me the most is the ear pressure I've been having for the last months... I really hope it will go away someday
