Same here. I quit coke, tea and coffee. (Now I drink them extremely rarely now. )

Instead I began to drink herbal teas. It was a little bit hard to get used to them at first. But I now I like many of them very much. For example "sage tea". It is tasty and has a very rich aroma. In fact many herbal teas are good for your health and bonus is that they have very low calories.

There are many different herbal teas (rose hip, chamomile, mint etc.) I recommend you to try them and find the ones suitable is for your taste. Don't throw them away immediately after drinking a cup, if they taste a little bit bitter first for you. After drinking few cups you'd probably like them.

:)) Ok. What about "Strawberry juice?". Although it is tasty, it has low calorie. 30 kcal / 100 gr.
I also recommend to add ice.

I would also go for fruit juices, orange juice, apple juice, banana juice, etc.... only natural fruit sugar in them.
but are you sure sugar makes yours worse?have you ever tried? and you can always sweeten with natural stevia.
I usually don't drink coffee because there is really a lot of caffeine in it, but I still drink tea and it doesn't make my T worse. I also still consume sugar and salt and I'm fine. I just try to stay away from artificial, chemical sweeteners like aspartam and I also stay away from msg.

also fresh coco water from the coconut is awesome - i love it and could drink it all day long. It also tastes great if you add a splash of pineapple to it...

I don't have any problems with sugar-free drinks. Coke Zero, Pepsi Diet, and many others I've enjoyed after getting tinnitus.

The artificial sweeteners (well, citric acid is horrible for teeth, too) probably aren't great for health generally, but when it comes to worrying about their effect on tinnitus, you should just try the sugar-free drinks and see how they affect you.

We are all unique and some people may find aspartame, sucralose and such trigger a spike, but many others may not notice a difference.

Ahhh, easier said than done. I just love the International Delight Mocha cold coffee drink in the half gallon. I go through tons of that stuff. Very comforting. I know I should cut back but I'm pretty addicted. :grumpy:

p.s. My hubby would throw a fit if I bought stuff with aspartame in it. He says that stuff is NOT good for you.

Stevia is the most natural if sweeteners. You can find it in most grocery stores that have organic sections. It can be in packet form and in liquid extract. Stevia is from a plant. Whatever you find.Make sure it is pure Stevia. There are substitutes that claim they contain stevia but contain other chemicals. I am not familiar with sugar free drinks that don't contain chemicals.

      Lulubug,
I've been using Stevia for about three years now, since my tinnitus worsened, in place of aspartame. I like the taste of it, and it is a natural, plant-based sweetener. I highly recommend it!

I think you should at least try things, who says that everything will spike your T? There are millions of people with T in the world and most of them consume just everything they want and get along. So I would eat and drink as everybody else and just cut out those things that i FEEL are not good for my Tinnitus. Natural fruit juices for example, how could they possible cause a spike? I would not just cut out everything before even trying it,... because that's exactly what will make you feel miserable and constantly be a reminder of your Tinnitus. :)

      Wholeheartedly agree with seal.

If you google for "anything + tinnitus", you'll certainly find some fella complaining about a perceived increase after consuming or doing something, but who says that applies to you!

Besides the things that can really cause irreversible damage (noise, some drugs, etc)., trying out different things to see if they might affect you is the way to go.

And remember: for every couple of reports of tinnitus increase due to a food or drink you find on forums and/or google, there are likely hundreds of thousands if not millions of tinnitus sufferers who don't get spikes due to the same thing.

Putting limits like this on your life because of tinnitus is totally unnecessary. Don't let tinnitus control what you eat and drink or do, instead if you constantly notice something triggers a spike, then you'll know to avoid that.

you see christine!!! you go girl! not everything is to worry about :D you enjoyed yourself very much today and that's probably why your T is low now. Sugar is not the problem, worrying about it is. It might be that your Tinnitus just spiked for no cause last month, it happens to me and also others, there is no always a cause like salt, loud noise , ...
just go on with what you did today and enjoy life and the good weather with your children!

Aspartame gives me headaches. I have no problems with Splenda drinks though.

I like to flavor my water with a little bit of juice. I use just enough to get some flavor. That could be 1/10 depending on the juice. I go between pomegranate, pure cranberry, orange, a squeeze of lemon or lime and others. No sugar added. Also, I throw frozen berries in my water instead of juice, just a handful. That's refreshing. Sometimes I use EmergenC.

If the water tastes good, I can go plain.
