Well, I deserved this. Went to see a two hour action movie with a friend that we were both looking forward to and I neglected to wear earplugs out of embarrassment and a false sense of security when the initial preview didn't seem too loud. Even after the non-stop action started I still didn't use the earplugs. That along with the loud subway ride home seems to have spiked one of my tones in the left ear now. I took NAC before the movie and after but it didn't seem to help either. I think this is the last time I'll be watching a movie in theatres, with or without earplugs.

So tragic, we cannot even do simple things like go to a movie without paying for it with hours, days, or weeks of relentless sensory torture. It's like we are half dead in the land of the living.

I went to a company dinner at a loud restaurant, and wore earplugs, and had a horrendous spike for two days.

This is why I think getting hair cell regeneration accelerated and released is such an insanely large priority.

We are truly suffering and most people don't have a clue. They cannot imagine it because they have not experienced it.

Thanks for the reply, John. I was naive to think I could get away with watching a movie without earplugs for one day, tinnitus really doesn't give you a break, even if you've been feeling better than before. Glad to see you posting often on the Frequency Therapeutics thread, I'm hoping we see some encouraging results in the phase 2 trial.

Feel better soon. I often think we are one loud sound away from prolonged misery. Hopefully your spike will not be prolonged. You should wear your earplugs on the subway as they tend to be quite loud. I figured out home video was a much safer option.

NEVER be embarrassed to protect your ears. YOU and your ears come first, it's your ears that will ring, not other people's ears. When I'm in the boxing gym, I put my ear plugs in and I careless who sees me doing it. I have people give me weird looks and I smile at them. If you are entering a potentially loud spot, then protect your ears.

Having a possible spike or a possible new baseline is NOT worth it just to conform and fit in!

PS-explain your situation to people, do not be shy to say what is going on.

Got a spike myself from seeing a movie with earplugs, and then I later even switched to safety earmuffs. It's yet to settle or fade. I won't be going to see one anytime soon again if ever, if that's all it'll take. If you do ever see one, I think it's best to go with earmuffs rather than earplugs, no matter how "silly" it may look to others.

Unfortunately, it hasn't. It's actually gotten worse. Honestly nothing to do but accept it.

Sorry to hear the spike has persisted. Make sure to protect from additional noise exposure. Try omega3 about 500 mg daily that helped as well. Give it some more time as it took my T about 8 months to really lessen in intensity. I think the earplugs at night to sleep also helped this as well.
