I am new to tinnitus. It started in oct 14. If I lay down I get very dizzy and will be sick for most of the day so I sleep sitting up. If this is a vestibular dysfunction and it gets resolved will tinnitus go away? Has anyone experienced this problem?

I have vertigo and dizziness as well. I suspect I may be suffering from labyrinithis and am seeing an ENT on Wednesday to get the diagnosis.

Before my onset of T I went through a fear of heights. I'm guessing it had something to do with balance or ears, call it vertigo. To bad we can't go back in time. See the doctor quick, maybe they can see whats going on. Still got T.

      Cause of Tinnitus:
maybe neck injury - maybe from BPPV
A few years before the ringing started I developed BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) which is an imbalance of fluids in the inner ear. It seems to be seasonal, usually in the fall and winter. My doctor explained how to effect the easy fix (procedure of tilting the head to the sides etc.).
I've been wondering if there were a connection to this form of vertigo since its caused by an inner ear problem. Anyone else with this affliction?

If it's triggered by sitting up only, good chance it's BPPV. I got BPPV 2 weeks ago from a bicycle accident, hit my head very hard (but was wearing a helmet). I highly recommend using the Epley Maneuver. The doctor just told me to wait it out for 2 weeks, but 1 week in and still experiencing vertigo, I found out about that online. Once I figured out which ear was affected, I did it and have been vertigo free for a week now. I found this video to be the most useful.
