I started a regimen of GABA today.
      Wish me luck.
I'm over a year with tinnitus but pretty sure it was stress that brought it on.

I consider my T unique to others as I can experience up to 2 full days and nights of silence but then it returns for a couple of days and so on.

Getting back to GABA. There is not much at the pharmacy in the way of data about its effects on T but the info on the web says very positive things about it.

It does affect different people differently...that much is known even to the clerk at the health store where i bought it.

I'm only one afternoon into it and took 200mg to start.
Am going to play it slow and patient with this.

I have clonazepam for anxiety and even that has been pretty helpful in reducing the stress and T but as most know the benzos can be addictive.

Well just wanted to share about the GABA.
      Cheers

Well... started Natural GABA yesterday and took 200mg at 4pm and again at 10pm.
Took a clonazepam .5 mg and melatonin 10 mg at midnight to sleep.
Tinnitus was quiet going to sleep and I woke up to silence today.
      Fingers crossed.

Thanks for sharing! I'm following your progress with GABA. You're probably going to have to take it for a while to see if it's really effective.

Well took my 6 pm dosage of GABA.
      300mg
Total of about 800 mg today.
T is still there but not as terrible as it usually is around this time of night.
It does have a relaxing affect on me and my anxiety has been low today

Noticed T is quiet today . There but very subdued.
Also noticed T has not gotten louder since starting my regimen. Hmmm.

      @David Dubros

It is well known that GABA supplements can not pass blood brain barrier, and are seen by many people as not useful. Check the web about this controversy. The clonazepam you are taking is likely to do much more than the GABA supplements.

      @infinite loop
My pharmacist says it does get past the brain-blood barrier.
      I'll listen to him.

Your pharmacist is either a son of a bitch or simply after a simpletons money.
      Or not a pharmacist.
Sorry for the harsh language, this has been discussed to death, the pharmaceutical GABA is for body enchancment and body builders. The molecule will not pass the blood brain barrier.
Any other effect you are getting, it's the clonazepam.
There is a product called Phenibut which will do what you are after.

P.S I'd buy it from another pharmacy.

Think for a second, if that's something you can do for yourself. If GABA could fill our brains we''ll all be half stoned all day, tinnitus, anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia and a billion other psychiatric and mental conditions would have a cure. And drugs such as valium, xanax, tavor, lexotanil, librium, centrax, ativan, rohypnol etc would dissapear in a day.

Could you be so kind as to enlighten me on phenibut.

      Have abandoned the GABA.
Found no difference with or without.
Will be trying low dosage of Phenibut when it arrives.
Feeling discouraged about GABA but hopeful about the Phenibut.

David, I’ve been taking Pharma Gaba with no effect at all. I was aware that Gaba supplements don’t cross the brain barrier, so it’s my fault if I’ve thrown my money away. I’m also feeling discouraged. Please, update your experience with Phenibut when you can. Thank you.

The problem is seldom being low on GABA anyway. It´s the receptors ability to utilize it.
Talking about GABA and and medications enhancing the binding affinity of GABA receptors(PAM´s), the last three days, I have been taking Baclofen(12.5*2 mg a day). And both my T and H was alleviated to a point I could easily live with. To me it is a miracle drug and far superior to benzo´s or any other drug I have tried to easy my symptoms.

Baclofen is a GABA-b PAM(Positive Allosteric modulator) I think similar but more potent than Phenibut, and is medically used as a muscle and spasm relaxant.

Problem is, of course, I´m terrified of developing tolerance and addiction to yet another GABA PAM as I have already down-regulated my GABA-a receptors with benzodiazepines.

It´s hard to win this battle. Today, after discontinuing baclofen yesterday, I´m back in T and H hell and the last three days feels like it was just a beautiful dream:cry:

      Hi Anima.
Sorry about your trial with Gaba.
My Phenibut is supposed to arrive next week.
I have tried reading everything i can about it and will only be taking a very low dose as it is addictive with withdrawl symptoms.
I will post any results i may have.
      Thank you

      Hi Grate Biff.
So very sorry about the T and H returning.
I am very new to the drug war against tinnitus and am going to take very low dosage to start. 250mg 1 pill to see what effect if any.
My Clonazepam is only .5mg and i use it for anxiety. It just so happens to quiet my T as well although its hit and miss.
Hoping you do not suffer badly for too long.
      Thank you.

Hi all. Probably like most the "level" of tinnitus along with now in both ears, each with noise significantly increased from really bad to massive headache, I am searching for any relief, even if only 10%. Reading posts hoping to learn. Have some mechanical aids including heading aids and sound generators. Tried some meds but either didn't provide relief or made it worse.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Do you know the cause of your tinnitus and how long have you had it.
I believe mine to be stress induced and i take .5 mg of clonazepam for anxiety which tends to have an effect on my tinnitus as well.

      Hi again.
My Phenibut arrived today and quite frankly I'm nervous about taking it.
If anyone could give me some solid data or iñfo on it ...it would be greatly appreciated.
My pharmacy does not even have it listed on their database.
I may run it by my psychiatrist and GP before i consume any.
Im in Canada and not sure what the contraindications are on it.
      Thanks.

I have decided against taking the Phenibut.
Too many nightmarish stories about addiction withdrawl and worse tinnitus.
I stick with my low dose of clonazepam and deal with my faded T.
Who knows it may fade even more.
But in my heart i know i have made the right choice.
There is no magic pill or silver bullet for tinnitus.

How long are you taking clonazepam, you take daily? I had very low T while I took 1 mg daily for 2 weeks. Even thought T is fading but retured after I stopped. If I take 0.5 does now have same effect, but I am very sleepy all day.

I've taken clonazepam for 10 years but it misses the target with time and for me is impossible to discontinue. Very high addictive drug. If I knew what I was doing, would never have taken it but I understand you're suffering. The target dose for me was 1mg before bed, now 2 sometimes 3 or 4... not good. it also has a negative psychological rebound.
