Just wondering how people feel about the volume of T.

Yes...half this volume, it would still be loud but I would be fine, no issues. I would still hate it but life would go on no problem

In my case the volume is probably a bit louder than in the beginning.
Habituation is the key. Once that is achieved the volume has less relevance.

Yes. The volume of my T is not the same everyday. On low days I can handle it and cope with it, it's livable.
On loud days life is very difficult.

I notice any physical activity as simple as a short walk, exposure to children joking, going into a silent room (contrast), masking increase the perception of it being louder?? Ideas?? It will not cause damage, but causes spikes and it will obviously spike for other unknown reasons.

Blair, your T like many here is reactive. Mine will sometimes get lower with masking and other times get louder. It depends in its fluctuating volume.
I don't think its perception at all. I believe it does get louder and softer for whatever reason.
I go out with ear plugs and noise masking to adjust to what's called for. Kinda sucks.

When mine is taking a day off as it does, nothing will bother it. Like it never existed.
Then upon return, it's always very rough and unforgiving.
But the reality is that no matter how loud or soft we have to deal with it and live our lives, not iT's life. Easier said than done.

Well, I thought there was a debate over the fact that there is no such thing as "reactive" T, I don't endorse it, but I wouldn't doubt it either, I don't know. The debate over loudness/softness has been another topic, the pitch or volume should make no difference, it is how we react. The quieter it is, the better day I have.

When I have mild tinnitus and work in audio for a few hours my T gets very loud. That's reactive to me.

Well, by definition I would agree, I am not so sure if Dr. Nagler would. I am wondering if that is me myself. Perhaps its aggravation by H, perhaps I just need time?

I was told never to protect my ears from normal everday sounds.
My answer would be ...do you hear what I hear?
If I use blow dryer, kids screaming ...ever day sounds without protection make T spike. Reactive?

@Leah I could not protect my ears from normal everday sounds, if I use earmuffs to mow my grass my T gets worse, as I understand because I am starving my auditory system of sound, which it naturally seeks and the contrast cranks up the T. People say they go to concerts etc with earplugs, I guess I could, but I expect I would pay after, so do you avoid and have a better T day or go and pay later? Perhaps in time?

Well for me right now T is quite loud and I do what I can to avoid any spikes.
That being said they do happen on their own, cause unknown.
I used to wear noise cancelling headphones quite a bit before T and often wonder if they played a part in getting T. Often wore them all night to block out disturbing sounds.
Love it when I have a low T day, like a sunny day life seems better.
Left a holiday event early today because T was so loud was not enjoying myself.

I don't think mowing the grass with ear muffs is starving your auditory system. I'm sure you still get a solid 60-70db even with the muffs on.

Easily. i am managing relatively good these days after months and months with ridiculously loud jet engine sound with a twist of Dog whistle from Hell what was to be added with 2 months of pulsatile T-Beast...woosh woosh.

i like this basic level T a lot. not enjoying it, no, but this is so much softer i have started to enjoy things again.

      There T and then there´s t.
