Hey, so last night when I was sleeping on my right ear, I had a massive spike in my tinnitus. And I mean massive, it was so loud that i couldn't even hear my mum speak to me, it was terrifying. Its gone down a fair amount now because i slept on my other side, but now my tinnitus frequency has changed. It has usually been mostly in my left ear, but now its suddenly shifted. I'm now 100% sure that fluid is causing my tinnitus as I've been coughing it out for 2 weeks and can literally feel it moving around in my ear. Strangely enough, its actually made me feel nor positive that its going to go as its got better in one ear. It just really scared me and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. (I'm only 17 btw, so no hearing loss or anything).

I got it just as my cold was ending, but I've only started in the past two weeks getting phlegm out.

Then it's very likely not permanent T but over- or underpressure in the middle ear, which affects the inner ear AKA cochlea.

I've had loads of popping+crackling in my ear, so I agree that sounds very likely. Do you know if there's anything specific I should be doing to help it sort itself out?

Try steam inhalation twice a day for two days as will get rid of any unwanted mucous in your tubes and should help your tinnitus....Lots of love glynis
