I just got NAC today and did some research on it and read how its suggested that it be taken combined with vitamin C to prevent it from causing kidney stones..... does anyone know if this is true? , right now im taking it aside with zinc, should I add the vitamin C to the mix? any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

You should add Vitamin C. NAC and Vit C work synergistically. Take 1 gram of Vit C per day.

      Hi, Stacey,

I've been taking NAC for over six months now, and have had no problems with it. I take it every morning, along with my daily dose of vitamin C, in the form of Emergen-C.

I read the same thing you did about possible kidney stones from long-term supplementation with NAC, and the article I read said to take vitamin C (at least 500 mg per day). That seems to work for me, and I think it's a good idea to err on the side of caution.

Zinc doesn't hurt. It has several benefits overall to one's health. You can find a few scientific studies of Zinc helping tinnitus. In case of tinnitus it's usually when a person is deficient in Zinc, which is not too common in young people.

Zinc decreases the absorption of Copper, so you want to take a supplement that has copper also.

      This is good: http://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Zinc-Balance-Capsules/dp/B0001VKDDM

It contains 15 mg of Zinc and 1 mg of Copper. There are others like this, just make sure the supplement has both Zinc and Copper.
