I'm the new guy (yeah go me!)
I joined the forums to share my experiences regarding the big "tinnitus"

I'm about to start the ball rolling with treatment & wondered if any fellow high pitched sufferers also hear this too?

Having tinnitus is bad enough but getting this on top really takes the biscuit...

I would rather be stone deaf in my offending ear than to put up with these invasive noises.
And yes 48 year old men do cry.......

No, I don't get a hum or crickets, mine is a ring. I don't know, maybe a hum would be better?

Has anyone else ever heard of this phenomena?

I’m certain this is not my experience, but the possibility of this disturbs me. Do you think it’s just a case of people with tinnitus who don’t understand it or don’t want to accept it?

"The Hum is a phenomenon, or collection of phenomena, involving widespread reports of a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming"

"It seems to be possible for hearers to move away from it, with one hearer of the Taos Hum reporting its range was 48 km"

@Siskiy Interesting but probably not tinnitus, because most commonly tinnitus is a high / very high pitch sound (I know tinnitus can be low frequency, but it's unlikely that all tinnitus sufferers from an area would hear this low pitch humming). Secondly people report not hearing it if they move away from that area... which we know it's not the case with tinnitus.

I thought maybe not, but then when I was reading up on it, one of the main guys advocating for it as an outside source said that he could temporarily stop it for a moment if he turned his head sharply or exhaled, which sounds more like certain kinds of tinnitus (I forget the word)
