I'm a lifelong teeth grinder, chomper, chewing in my sleep first degree Bruxer. I've got the flattened teeth, cracked teeth and even the roots of my rear teeth driven up into my sinuses to prove it. I've been doing it all my life. Usually if I have a bowl of cereal before bed, I won't grind. I also try to go to sleep with my mouth open. Man, some mornings I've woken up with my jaw literally stuck shut and ears ringing like fire engines.

I've chewed through regular mouth guards (think sports mouth guard) due to my teeth grinding. My dentist made a mouth guard (acrylic I think) that fits over my bottom front four teeth only. That way my back teeth cannot contact at all. Made the biggest difference in my grinding. It became loose and I stopped wearing it for a few weeks, and even tried the regular mouth guard. That's when I realized how bad my grinding was when I chewed through them. So back to the dentist to have the acrylic one fixed. Took about a week or two and the pain resolved again.

I had one and the dog ate it. I guess, because I couldn't find it. The dentist said Yup, they think they're chew toys.

I just got a brand new custom-fitted mouth guard! I noticed a small improvement the first night, which might be a coincidence. But still. Here's to hoping that my jaw pain, ear pain, and perhaps even my T get better!
