So I've had a hissing in a both ears and a tone in my left. This started a little less than 3 months ago. Just about 30 minutes ago, I was laying in bed and all of sudden, I have a tone in my right ear as well. It's lower than the tone in my right but it's definitely there along with the hissing. I get fleeting tinnitus regularly but this isn't it. The tone is quite different and closer to the tone in my left.

Nothing out of the usual, no loud noise exposure. I'm wondering if I should even bother going to the ENT for this.

      Dang it.

T normally affects both ears eventually from what I've read. The same thing happened to me!

I've already had hissing in both ears. But I only had a tone in the left. It just strikes me as odd to develop a new tone in my right ear suddenly with no apparent reason, considering that I am under 30, did not have any loud noise exposure, do not take any kind of drugs, and do not have any measurable hearing loss. If I had to guess I'd say it must be something viral, bacterial, or ETD related. But in my experience my guess would be as good as the ENTs. I'd steer clear of the antibiotics because of all the horror stories, but I'm wondering if there's anything an ENT could even help me with or prescribe.

Just out of interest, I have experienced what appears to be equally shared tinnitus hissing (best I can describe it!) in both ears, but have noticed that if I make an effort to thrust my chin and hence jaw bone forwards I get a noticeable loud high pitched ringing (rather than the lower hiss tone) in my right ear only. Anyone else experienced this and what do you think it indicates ??

It is odd. But it happened to me too! It all started with my left ear (extreme reactive T). One night lying in bed and out of the blue I get a loud tone in my right ear. Now I have faint T in my (good) right ear, which has become a tonal melody that comes and goes. Freaking annoying!

So my left ear is damaged (all high freq. are lost). My right ear is physically good but my brain is fucked up.
