      Hey guys!

Unfortunately I'm not doing well. Night time is the worst. I tend to get fleeting tinnitus and it freaks me out. This has caused severe anxiety because I am anticipating on it to happen as I lay down (it has already happened several times). Another fear I have is what if this loud fleeting tinnitus stays permanent.

Any tips on how I can see tinnitus as a friend rather than an enemy. Easier said than done because my reaction is automatic. I get filled with fear and anxiety. However, with positivity and love from others it will make me stronger.

      Thanks for your time!

      :huganimation:Hi Jen,

I’m glad you posted, I hope we can comfort you - I understand how consuming this is and the gut churning anxiety that is often at its worst in those late night hours. Although you feel it, you aren’t alone and we are just a tap away on this website and fully understand what you are going through.

There are some wonderful people on here and a lot of helpful information I have found. Once your anxiety is lower the tinnitus won’t get to you quite as much.

Here's how to get rid of your anxiety: Be grateful you haven't got screaming tinnitus 24/7. If this isn't permanent go out and enjoy your life.

I have tinnitus screaming at me all day every day and every morning I wake up wishing my life was at an end.

You're worrying about whether or not you'll end up like this? What a waste.

What should she be grateful for??

@Jen10 has tinnitus 24/7, but on top she gets fleeting tinnitus at night.

Please don't worry about the fleeting tinnitus, I have some every other day since last year.
They are never permanent and 80 percent gets these, the longest episode stayed for a few hours and that was it.

Since I stopped caring and worrying about them I barely notice them anymore.
      It's all just anxiety.

Where does it say she has tinnitus 24/7?

If you have tinnitus 24/7 how can you have fleeting tinnitus?

Well I guess over 85 percent with or without tinnitus get fleeting tinnitus, I get it a few times a week and believe me I have 24/7 chronic tinnitus. It just changed in pitch and gets Like 10 times as loud. Good for you you've never experienced this.

I have as it happens...all the freaking time.

But I misinterpreted the post, so my apologies for that.

In terms of how to see T as a friend and not an enemy...I'm working on that at myself at the moment but when I first got this in 1997, a series of events that occurred before I got it and after I got it allowed me to reflect and say 'You know what, If I didnt have T, that wouldnt have happened'

I hope, sooner rather than later, good things happen in all our lives and we can look back and think...'Now I see why I suffered like I did'

Another issue I have is when I'm about to pass out, I get random sounds. Even with sound enrichment. It makes it very hard for me to pass out cause I'm terrified. Is this normal? I've had tinnitus for almost 5 months. Wish I was stronger.

It's all good. I do have a question though. When you're about to pass out or just started passing out do you get random sounds in your ear that are loud? This is what's giving me also severe anxiety. I haven't slept all night. I hope you're okay! I'm trying to T as a friend but it's very unpredictable with the sounds. My tinnitus is all over the place in terms of sounds and frequencies.

I also have this tinnitus that changes all the time but it does settle after a while, you have to try to be patient. It all had to do with stress levels.

Thanks I do you sound enrichment but I could still hear random sounds in my ear. As of trying to pass out and it makes me scared to fall asleep. I'm not in a good place right now. I did start CBT not too long ago. I'm afraid I might need to go on sleeping pills

since tinnitus is still fairly new and it's ramping up your anxiety, you may want to look into some natural supplements that help reduce anxiety, at night.

Has this ever happened to you in the early stages? Where you're about to pass out or have already passed out and you hear random sounds in your ear that can be loud. It wakes you right up and it's hard to go back to sleep. Then you kind of fear going to sleep. It's a vicious cycle. I'm currently taking 5-HTP but it hasn't been that long. I do take multivitamins and magnesium. I really don't want to go on pharmaceutical drugs. I try to stay positive but it's very hard when you're anxiety and fear is Sky High.
