Changes in tone/pitch?

Has anyone else noticed a change in the tone, volume or pitch of their tinnitus over time? Mine went from being a fairly low-volume, somewhat high pitched whistle (kinda like a kettle, I guess), to, in the past week, constant high volume and pitch. And it's getting worse!! I never used to notice the T during the day but since I started antibiotics (amoxicillin, nearly six days ago) it has increased in everything. Volume, pitch, you name it.

I'm still on amoxicillin, still not sleeping much (if at all - night #3 now of insomnia because the ringing is too loud), and still freaking out, which is probably making things all the worse.

Does this happen to anyone else? How do you handle this?? I keep asking that question but right now I feel so hopeless (a feeling I'm sure is compounded by the sleep deprivation). I don't know how much longer I can do this.

 

do u think it could be from the amoxicillin?? making you T louder?

 

Yes, I have been experiencing this exact same thing, and I'm currently not taking any drugs. Two weeks ago, it started with a white noise type sound in my right ear. About a week ago both ears started ringing, like a deep tone in my head. Now I hear the white noise and a high pitched ring in my right ear, as well as the deep ringing in my head. I have also not been able to hold down a good sleep pattern, so it could be that.

 

Christine, I'm not sure. Most of the literature I've found says that there shouldn't be an increase but anecdotal evidence seems to suggest otherwise. My doc thinks that a sinus infection could be causing this flare up so I want to stick it out with the amox. I just wish there was some way to know for sure.

 

Mine's doing the opposite. Used to be a high pitched squeaky annoying screeeeeeeeee...now it's lower in tone and has a kind of fuzzy quality to it. It has moments where it changes back though. :X

Yea mine changes pretty often but I usually don't notice the change unless I really pay attention. But the volume changes randomly too. So weird but it happens to most people with T.
